Why are brand guidelines important? Here's a real example. When Infomedia was asked to redesign the website for USTA Alabama, our goal was clear: get people of all ages the resources they need to get outside and playing tennis. We designed a solid, resource-heavy site — objectively better than what USTA Alabama had — but something was missing. On a call with USTA Alabama, they mentioned that they may want to stay close to the overall (USTA) United States Tennis Association brand guidelines. They sent over the document. Y'all. The personality, the playful and clever language, the bold colors—it all screamed...tennis! The site design transformed. Instead of a good site, it became a vibrant, energetic, and perfectly-on-brand-great site. Thanks to (USTA) United States Tennis Association's investment in their brand guidelines, we delivered a site that truly felt like USTA Alabama. The takeaway? Invest in your brand guidelines.
