    Is This Your Workflow? Time for a Reality Check. Your process likely looks something like this: 1?? You get a referral and manually create an entry in your LOS “prospect” folder. 2?? You create a lead in what’s called a CRM—but really, it’s just a glorified email marketing system firing off drip campaigns. 3?? Your loan officers send borrowers a POS link to fill out applications and upload docs. 4?? Credit checks, AUS, and pricing happen in the LOS—slow and disconnected from the borrower’s initial experience. 5?? You move the loan to your ops team and remain clueless about progress, or the lack thereof. Your borrower feels even more clueless. 6?? Borrowers receive repetitive, invasive requests for documents that don’t make sense—frustrating them further. 7?? Your “CRM” has no idea what’s happening in real time because it’s operating in a silo. And then, if repeat business miraculously comes in, your team scrambles to understand the client’s history. Does this sound scalable for 2025 and beyond? Legacy tech forces you into silos, miscommunication, and inefficiencies. It’s time for a better way: ?     Why does the mortgage industry have an abysmally low retention rate of just 18% compared to the 74% average across all other industries? Some industries achieve near 100% retention through loyalty programs and client-centric strategies. Others may be slightly lower but still far ahead. Yet, the mortgage world sits at a shocking 18%. Why? The problem lies in how the industry views its customers. Customers aren’t even referred to as “clients” ?? they’re called ????????????????????. The most widely adopted system? The ???????? ?????????????????????? ???????????? (??????), built to transact, not to engage. Loan officers create leads in the “prospect folder” of their LOS, rely on impersonal drip campaigns disguised as CRM, and then wonder why there’s no stickiness or loyalty. But let’s not blame the “nature of the industry.” We’ve convinced ourselves that stickiness is impossible because the average consumer gets a new mortgage only once every 7 years. But who set these expectations? Whatever happened to promoting real estate as a path to ???????????? ????????????????? And helping clients responsibly leverage their equity for overall financial well-being? Yes, economics and interest rates will always fluctuate. That’s a given. But lenders and loan officers who treat their customers as true clients ?? not just borrowers ?? will always do well, regardless of market conditions. The opportunity to build loyalty exists. It’s time we rethink how we serve, engage, and retain. Have a great weekend!
