As part of our growing efforts to support nonprofits with Accounting, Finance and HR services, last week we kicked off an inaugural Launch & Learn for any and all nonprofit leaders in the Nashville community. Three experienced nonprofit leaders - Taylor Cochran, Jake Smith, and Rachel Weir - joined us on the panel and shared on navigating uncertainty in the current landscape. We were all ears! Among the many takeaways, a few stood out: ?? Cash is the fuel that makes the car run. Your car and trunk can be overloaded with impact, but without cash in the tank your impact will not travel very far. ?? Clarity is a key tenet to leadership in times of uncertainty. People want to be part of a winning team. As a leader, it is your charge to bring daily clarity by communicating to your team how their work and contribution will lead to winning. ?? Some things are profitable, and often times other things are impactful. Find opportunities that are both profitable and impactful, and focus your efforts there. ?? As a leader, you are responsible for giving those on your team opportunities to lead themselves. If you neglect that, then you are failing to build up leaders around you. ?? At the end of the day, let’s be leaders who care more about what we did for others and how we made them feel rather than our ability to raise money or deliver an amazing budget. The former has lasting rewards; the latter only offers temporary fulfillment. We loved seeing the nonprofit community connect, learn and move out to continue impacting people and places near and far. It was a delight and we can't wait for the next one.
