Smaller AI models like DeepSeek increase cyber threats, making it easier for bad actors to exploit vulnerabilities worldwide.

DeepSeek AI: A Security Risk for Businesses Recent evaluations have revealed significant security vulnerabilities in DeepSeek, a Chinese generative AI model. Researchers at AppSOC conducted 6,400 security tests on DeepSeek-R1, uncovering critical failures in areas such as: -Malware Generation: The model was tricked into creating malware in 98.8% of attempts. -Virus Code Production: DeepSeek generated virus code 86.7% of the time. -Jailbreaking and Prompt Injection: The AI was susceptible to manipulations that bypassed its safety protocols. Given these high failure rates, experts advise against integrating DeepSeek into enterprise applications, especially those handling personal information, sensitive data, or intellectual property. High-Profile X Accounts Hijacked in One-Click Phishing Scam A recent phishing campaign is targeting influential X users, including journalists and political figures. Attackers send deceptive messages via email containing malicious links and a single click allows them to seize control of the account.
