Magnetic lifting devices significantly advance material handling technology, offering unmatched efficiency, safety, and versatility. As industries continue to seek ways to improve productivity and safety, the adoption of these devices is likely to grow. By understanding the various types, applications, and safety considerations, businesses can effectively integrate magnetic lifting devices into their operations, reaping the benefits of this powerful tool. Advantages of Magnetic Lifting Devices: 1. Increased Efficiency: Magnetic lifters significantly reduce the time and effort needed to lift and move heavy materials. Their quick operation and easy handling of large loads improve overall productivity. 2. Enhanced Safety: Magnetic lifters reduce the risk of accidents caused by slippage or mechanical failure by eliminating the need for chains, slings, and other traditional lifting methods. Additionally, their secure grip ensures that the load remains stable during lifting and transportation. 3. Versatility: Magnetic lifters, with their ability to handle a wide range of ferrous materials, from small parts to large steel plates and beams, are not just suitable for various applications but adaptable to them. This versatility makes them a preferred choice in manufacturing, shipbuilding, and scrap handling, giving you the confidence that they can meet your diverse needs. 4. Cost-Effective: While the initial investment in magnetic lifting devices may be higher than other lifting methods, their low maintenance costs and the assurance of a long service life make them a cost-effective and reliable solution in the long run. This longevity ensures that your investment continues to pay off over time. Do you use Magnetic Lifting Devices in your operations? Share here. Credit to: HSE.

LinkedIn Expert, Let's talk about Pick and Carry Crane During Tandem Lift. Multiple crane lifts are among the most technically complex to plan and execute, especially tandem lifts involving pick-and-carry activities. We must address some critical points before we perform the job. I will share some of the critical points of this activity: 1. Real-time information and communication for operators to ensure lift and travel are carried out in unison 2. Side loads/forces acting on the crane boom or unintended load distribution 3. Ground preparation and the compounding ground pressures if cranes are close to each other 4. Load sharing for rigid structures requires special attention, as weight transfer is critical when lifting or placing a rigid load. 5. Cranes must travel in the same direction. 6. If pick and carry, lift the load, then move into position. Don’t do both, and make sure all cranes travel in the same direction. Do you have any critical points of this activity that must be added? Or Do you have the same experience with this activity? Share here, and let’s learn together! Stay safe, and have a blessed day! Corroded Wire Rope Leads to Lifting Operations Accident. We will cover the three different types of corrosion as specified in the international standard covering wire rope inspection. The three different types of corrosion are: 1. External Corrosion- Corrosion is visible on the exterior of the rope. 2. Internal Corrosion- Corrosion visible below the outer strands of a rope. 3. Fretting Corrosion- Corroded matter formed by friction when wires in a rope rub together (think sawdust after sanding a plank of wood). Corrosion of the rope, internally and externally, can also result in a significant loss in metallic area. The rope strength is reduced to a level that cannot sustain the average working load. How to avoid corroded wire rope? Preventive Maintenance is mandatory for implementation through Lifting Management Systems. Do you have any experience with this condition of wire rope? Please share here! #SafeLiftingOperations #WireRope

Semi-empirical modeling of wire rope corrosion in seawater combines theoretical insights with empirical data to predict degradation in marine environments. It involves collecting experimental data on corrosion rates and tensile strength loss while considering environmental factors like salinity, oxygenation, cathodic reaction, flow velocity, marine growth, and temperature. The model parameters are calibrated with experimental data, refined through validation with independent datasets, and ultimately provide a practical tool for predicting the lifespan of wire ropes in diverse seawater conditions. For details, please review this journal and share what knowledge you gain from it. Let's learn together. #safeliftingoperations #wirerope

Tandem lifting with cranes can be useful for lifting heavy objects or structures that are too large or heavy to be lifted by a single crane. ? When the load is too heavy for a single piece of equipment, two cranes can safely distribute the weight. ? When the load is too long or too wide, two cranes can provide anchor points that stabilize the load and prevent dangerous load swings. The crucial aspect of this type of operation is the simultaneous operation of the two devices. What are the factors to check while using the tandem lifting method? 1. You have to determine the center of gravity of the load before you attempt to lift the load. 2. The cranes' positions matter when lifting a huge load using the tandem method. 3. Sideloading must be avoided during tandem lifting/single lift. 4. Weight distribution is another factor we must consider while performing tandem lifts. 5. Wind speed, ground support, etc 6. A Qualified Lifting Plan must be approved and socialized to people involved in lifting operations. Any feedback from you all regarding this lifting plan? Let's review and learn together and have a great weekend! - DAS - #safeliftingoperations #tandemliftingoperations
