Vox featured?Indoor Science?Chief Science Officer?Ian Cull, PE, CIH?to discuss how to make your indoor air quality better when it is smoky outside. To protect occupants and keep outside air outside - and indoor air inside: 1. Block routes for outside air to keep it from coming in — within reason 2. Keep exhaust fans off 3. Switch from ventilation to recirculation on any and all HVAC units For cleaning indoor air we recommend: 1. For people with central air, explore using a MERV 13 filter 2. For people without central air but who have forced-air heating, set the heat to off and turn the fan to auto and upgrade the furnace filter to MERV 13 3. For people with window air conditioners or anyone looking for additional filtration, consider using a free-standing air purifier with HEPA filter and consider those that include an activated carbon or charcoal layer We recommend avoiding some indoor activities: 1. Frying foods, or cooking foods that smoke 2. Using gas stoves, burning candles and incense 3. Vacuuming (unless using one with a HEPA filter) 4. Smoking #Wildfires #Smoke #IAQ?#IEQ

Our Founder and Chief Science Officer, Ian Cull, wrote the chapter on mold inspection in the most authoritative textbook in the industry!
It was an honor to author "Chapter 5: Assessment Strategy" in the updated Bioaerosols book. The chapter covers property assessments for mold, bacteria, and other bioaerosols. My chapter contains practical advice and includes an inspection checklist for conducting indoor environmental assessments. https://lnkd.in/gn4bvd-w Special thanks to my reviewers and editors: Bud Offermann, Jack Springston, CIH, CSP, FAIHA, Cheri Marcham, Richard Shaughnessy, PhD, Tony Havics, Paula Vance, and Donald Weekes. Their detailed feedback and constructive comments were instrumental in improving this chapter.
