As #ClimateWeekNYC comes to a close, it's clear that the time for action is now. Our team feels energized after a week of productive conversations, inspiring presentations, and networking with collaborators! By providing reliable, high-integrity solutions to market, we can help companies leverage the power of regenerative agriculture as a climate solution, today. With solutions to measure impact, enable farmgate access, expand supply chain resilience, or compensate for residual emissions beyond your value chain, we make it easy for companies to get started. Highlights from the week: 1?? Ewan Lamont joined Marina Freitas Grossi from Conselho Empresarial Brasileiro para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável (Cebds) and Natasha Santos from Bayer | Crop Science on a panel on Scaling Regenerative Agriculture: Financing models for land-based action, hosted by the WBCSD and Bayer. 2?? Peter Bunce shared his perspectives on a panel on Financing Fashion's Decarbonization Initiatives, hosted by The Fashion Pact, Tapestry, and J.Crew. Fellow panelists: Betsy Blaisdell Kristina Elinder Liljas Laila Petrie Payal Luthra Lena Staafgard Mary Kate Randolph KATIE TAGUE If you didn't make it to Climate Week, or we didn't have the chance to connect on the ground, we'd love to connect offline! Indigo Ag has welcomed the publication of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission guidance on the listing of voluntary carbon credit derivative contracts, particularly for its emphasis on high-quality credits. Although these contracts represent a very small portion of volume in the carbon market, the CFTC guidance helps catalyze the move to standardization in that space. It therefore is an important step in the overall move towards carbon market maturity. Even for bilateral trades, it's helpful to have these official sources of guidance that companies can reference. Fortunately, Indigo's credits align very well with the CFTC guidance on high quality!

?? We believe increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) enhances soil health and productivity. Healthy soils lead to healthier farms and resilient food systems. By improving soil structure, water retention, and fertility, we reduce the need for irrigation and make agriculture more adaptable to droughts and extreme weather. ISCIA champions practices that boost SOC to ensure our soils stay productive and our agricultural systems resilient in the face of climate change. ?? Congratulations to The Fashion Pact on finishing their pilot program to decarbonize cotton production! We’re excited to continue our partnership with the Unlock Programme, working alongside 2050.cloud to accelerate the shift toward regenerative farming.

?? We believe soils are vital carbon reservoirs. Did you know soils store more carbon than the atmosphere and terrestrial vegetation combined? By incorporating organic matter from plants, animals, and microorganisms, we can sequester carbon in the soil, keeping it out of the atmosphere where it contributes to climate change. At ISCIA, we're committed to unlocking soil’s full potential as a climate solution by promoting practices that enhance carbon sequestration. Together, we can turn the tide on climate change, one field at a time. ?? Thank you to NPR's All Things Considered for highlighting the amazing work that farmer's like Will Tipton are doing to steward the land: https://lnkd.in/eD6hGzwD. Farmer's like Will are what keep me motivated to keep advancing the science so we can better measure and reward them for creating ecosystem impact. I appreciate the opportunity to share what we've done to use the latest science and technology to help farmer's like Will access new markets and provide a durable income stream that can help families keep farming. And having my parents see my name show up in an NPR article they were reading was a real treat! As mentioned in the article, there is more work and science to be done in certain areas, but there are many areas where we know how to use sustainable agriculture to restore health to the soil - that's why Indigo is driven by science, recently publishing a peer-reviewed article on the technology, science, and systems we've built to help bring more economic opportunity to rural communities. I break down the key findings of the paper in this blog post and talk about how we've adapted and improved our program over time to make markets more inclusive of the communities that are using sustainable agriculture to regenerate the land: https://lnkd.in/e9YPX7Ru

Can't think what makes me cringe more: listening to the sound of my own voice, or recommending that others do? Either way, it was fab to swap notes with Tim and Tyler Nuss on The Modern Acre podcast, where the hosts dig in on some pretty interesting agri-food themes with folks who are doing cool things in the space. Worth a follow. Tune in if you're curious about the journey so far at Indigo Ag: the story of a young company in the Sustainability space these last few years, and finding that precarious balance between focus and opportunity while navigating the growth-at-all-costs era into a more sober, data-obsessed path to profitability. More hot takes? Let's get into it at Climate Week in New York next week! Even if you're not looking to chat about our awesome sustainability programs to reduce and remove carbon from the agri-food chain, we can collectively complain about the gridlock Manhattan traffic and loudly bemoan unwise footwear choices after a day stomping up and down Midtown. Let me know if you're around!
Can regenerative agriculture build meaningful carbon in soil? Our latest Journal of Environmental Management paper shows how we have created impact at scale—with the right incentives & MRV tech. This research focuses on three consecutive soil carbon credit issuances, showcasing how large-scale regenerative ag projects can deliver meaningful carbon storage in soil. We’ve issued nearly 300K carbon credits—the largest repeatable volume of high-quality credits in the ag soil sector. Farmers are benefiting, and the potential to scale this work is huge. Dive into what we've learned, why we publish scientific findings, and how we've built high-integrity programs that can equitably reward growers for stewarding the land. Thank you to all the authors involved in this paper Charlie Brummitt, Cara Mathers, Rebecca Keating, PhD, Katie O'Leary , A.J. (Ashok) Kumar, Mark Easter, Mark A.
