Grant Award Spotlight Homes?of?Hope?opens doors for economic mobility through housing, economic and workforce development. Their vision is to provide opportunities for generational change throughout South Carolina. Homes of Hope’s path is to fulfill their mission and vision centers on?two major initiatives: Affordable Housing and the Men’s Workforce Development program.? The Affordable Housing side uses an intentional approach to first stabilize families struggling to make ends meet by providing high-quality, energy-efficient housing, and then supports those families with individualized services and connections that allow families to maintain?their new?homes?and move toward economic independence. Stable?affordable housing is the first, most crucial step toward economic mobility, but lasting change comes when families are no longer in emergency mode and have the tools to invest in their own future.? To this end,?Homes?of?Hope?established?a Resident Resources Department in 2019 to connect housing clients with individualized tools and resources to help?move individuals and families to economic independence. The Men’s Workforce Development (MWD) side is an intensive, Christian residential job-training and discipleship/mentoring program for men who are experiencing homelessness and overcoming addictions. Participants complete both classroom and on the job training in the field?of?construction, including their OSHA30 certification as well as practical skills training on build sites for LEED-Standard?homes.?Each man will each spend over 200 days?on the job training and approximately 200 hours?of?training in the classroom. Over the period?of?one year, they will help construct three?homes?designated for families living below poverty level. In addition, men participate?in daily Christian discipleship activities and weekly worship. ? Hope?Housing is where these two major initiatives?of?Homes?of?Hope?connect in a very concrete way and is the center?of?the MWD hands-on training.? Building these low-cost, sustainable?homes?for families earning poverty-level incomes is a revolutionary way to rebuild communities. These high quality and energy efficient?homes?are affordable for low-income families and appreciate in value, creating wealth. The men in the Workforce Development program will build up to 3?Hope?Houses?as part?of?their training.? There are many ways to get involved with Homes of Hope, such as volunteering and donations. They also have a golf tournament coming up on October 14th and November 6th. https://lnkd.in/dATw_AMc https://lnkd.in/dVAawtxG Homes of Hope is also hosting a spring gala on April 4, 2025. https://lnkd.in/dwva5sC Each of these events is a great way to get involved and learn more about the great work being done by Homes of Hope.

?Grant Award Spotlight? Family Promise of Laurens County helps families experiencing homelessness and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community response. They offer shelter for families with children for 92-120 days or longer, shelter diversion for families with alternative means of sheltering, prevention through rental assistance to prevent eviction, and stabilization services which follow families for up to 16 months following services. Family Promise of Laurens County serves families within Laurens County experiencing homelessness who have school-age children or children attending college. Affordable housing continues to be their largest struggle for families. As the price of rental properties increases in the community, families employed in minimum wage jobs simply cannot afford housing. Many of these families lack childcare options with limited income that often prevents single mothers and others from working due to the fact there is not affordable childcare options. In the last 4 years of operation 95% of the families receiving assistance have remained in their housing. That is due to the stabilization services they offer families which include case management long after a family has been placed in a home. Stabilization services provide assistance to answer questions, assist with maintaining a budget, and maintaining a household. These services lead to a successful outcome for families. If you would like to get involved, you can by giving and making Family Promise of Laurens County a regular part of your budget. Secondly, by participating in their annual golf tournament, annual Christmas Angel Tree, or by calling the Day Center to learn of their seasonal “Wish List” where you discover items needed for families in receiving services.

?Grant Award Spotlight? His Turn Soccer uses the game of soccer to change children’s lives, so they understand their worth as people created by God. They live out their mission through local partnerships with schools and churches. Right now, they have a soccer program at Fuller Normal School, Reconcile Community Church, and Welcome Elementary School. His Turn continues to seek partnerships with local schools and churches as they expand in the Greenville area. In addition, they also have 5 weeks of summer camp at Reconcile Community Church. Many of the children His Turn connects with face challenges that make it impossible for them to participate in a (often, very expensive) soccer program. All their programs are free for children. Many of the children do not know their worth as someone created by God and they use soccer as an avenue to communicate their worth and value through intentional conversations about God and interpersonal relationships with the coaches. These children desperately need someone in their life showing up for them and this program allows them to have coaches show up for them on a weekly basis. If you want to get involved with His Turn Soccer they are in need of volunteers. The coaches are the bread and butter of this organization, allowing them to love more children. You do not need to be a soccer player to love on these kiddos! To also be involved you can become a monthly donor. Their monthly giving team is called Club United is how they can continue their mission in Greenville. His Turn is specifically running a fundraiser called ELEVEN until the end of 2024. They are looking for 11 more individuals, businesses, or families to join their team by giving monthly. They already have 2 out of the 11 committed. They also have a yearly fundraising event in April. If you or your business is interested in sponsoring, they would love to have you join them in this way. You can email His Turn to get involved at the event: [email protected]. His Turn asks for continued prayers that God would expand their reach in the Greenville area so more children can know their worth and value. https://lnkd.in/dZpNWrMs

It takes a village to build one... $1,605,483 raised through the Indigo Hope Gift Matching Challenge! ?? We are overwhelmed by this incredible generosity! As a result of the community rallying together to purchase additional homes for Restoration Village and complete the Indigo Hope Center, many men and women will now have a JUMPSTART on their future.?? ? Here’s a breakdown of the remarkable impact our donors have made through this campaign:? ? Amount Given for Homes: $500,000? Fully Fund Construction of Indigo Hope Center: $580,000? Furniture and Décor for Indigo Hope Center: $100,000? Commercial Equipment: $80,000? Funding for Mission (Prison & Re-entry Program): $367,647? ? Total Given: $1,605,483? (Including Indigo Hope Foundation Match of $650k) ? The construction and furnishing of two additional homes will enable us to serve 10 more individuals in our transitional program. These aren’t just Johns and Janes, they are mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Each one will now have transformational opportunities as they rebuild their lives after incarceration. This is truly a win worth celebrating!? ?? Watching the Indigo Hope Center take shape has been exhilarating. By the end of this year, the men and women in JUMPSTART SC’s transitional program will benefit from groundbreaking programming and events tailored to foster community, encouragement, and accountability—all within the heart of Restoration Village. What once seemed distant is now within reach, as we witness God preparing this space for fellowship, job opportunities, and life-changing transformation. ?Grant Award Spotlight? Sammy's Mission exists so that men struggling with hopeless and addiction experience hope, hear the Good News of God's Love, live in sobriety, and serve others. They offer Faith-based, sober living transition homes to men in addiction recovery. Sammy’s Mission also provides them with a home, transportation and resources in order for the men to live a Christ-centered sober life as productive members of society.?They feel that transition housing is so important because these men fight so hard to get out of addiction, and if they have nowhere to go that is safe with accountability following rehab, then more than likely they will return to the same people, places and things and potentially relapse. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, 85% of persons relapsed within one year of a successful rehab program in 2023. The relapse rate at Sammy's Mission in 2023 was only 32%. If you would like to get involved, they are in need of godly mentors. They also love it when organizations cook for the guys and have a "family meal" type of environment. You can also visit their website at?www.sammysmission.org?for more information. ? ?Sammy’s Mission’s Fall Fundraiser is coming up on September 17. There is no cost to register. I would encourage anyone who wants to know more about what Sammy's Mission is about, to come out to their event. You can visit the Sammy’s Mission website sammysmission.org/events and register.?

“The poverty of being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for is the greatest poverty.” -Mother Teresa Have you ever felt? → Unwanted? → Unloved? → Uncared for? If so, then you can empathize with the people we serve at JUMPSTART. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a population that better fits this description than those living in our prison system. One group that is doing an amazing job of addressing this form of poverty is the Indigo Hope Foundation. To encourage the community to join them in their mission, they are currently partnering with us through the “Multiply Hope” campaign, matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $650,000 until September 2. Why are they doing a matching challenge rather than just giving the gift? To rally the community together. To show the people we serve that they are in fact: → Wanted → Loved → Cared for? By YOU. United, we can multiply hope in a way that none of us could do alone. Some ways you can help: → Give, knowing your generosity will be doubled. → Learn, so you can understand how the funds will be used. → Share, so that more people can join the challenge to hit our goal. >>>Who is someone who has multiplied Hope in your life? ===== Learn more about “Multiply Hope” by sending me a DM or scheduling a call from my Featured section.
