  • ?SPOTLIGHT? Miracle Hill Ministries exists that homeless children and adults receive food and shelter with compassion, hear the good news of Jesus Christ, and move toward healthy relationships and stability. Through case management, trauma-informed counseling, connection to community resources, transitional housing, and job and life skills training, we help individuals experience life change and reintegrate into the community. ? ? Miracle Hills’s facilities and programs extend across the Upstate include: ? ?4 homeless shelters ?2 residential addiction recovery centers?(one for men, one for women) 18 transition homes ?workforce development program (job skills training and employment opportunities) ?foster care licensing and child placement program ?foster care housing community ?Family Ministry Center and family strengthening program ?food warehouse and community pantry ? Miracle Hill Ministries serves children and adults experiencing homelessness and poverty. A majority of the adults struggle with addiction, some have been incarcerated, and most have lost healthy relationships. Access to essential resources such as housing, employment, and healthcare is often limited, which can result in individuals relapsing and/or returning to homelessness. The cycle of recidivism and relapse contributes to the perpetuation of poverty and hopelessness. Their ministry’s goal is to love these individuals back to life so they can break the cycle and experience restoration and reconciliation. ? Success Story: As a teenage mom, Brittney didn't know how to process the deep grief that flooded her life when her baby girl died in a house fire. Shortly after the death of her baby, Brittney was placed in a foster home temporarily, which only added to her grief. These unprocessed emotions led her to cope through substance abuse. Eventually, Brittney's life spiraled out of control. She struggled with lying and stealing and was arrested over 27 times. One day, a woman shared with Brittney the good news that Jesus saves. Brittney gave her life to Christ and entered Miracle Hill Renewal Center. Today, her life is completely changed. She is married, enjoys stable work, and is surrounded by a community of people who love her. God truly breathed life into Brittney's soul. ? • ?SPOTLIGHT? Upstate Warrior Solution's mission is to CONNECT warriors and their family members to resources and opportunities, LEAD them through the process of self-empowerment, and INSPIRE the community to embrace local warriors and their family members as valued neighbors and friends. Their model is centralized on face-to-face outreach to the warrior community and services including mental health, bene?ts navigation, legal assistance, housing, workforce development, spiritual support, therapeutic art, and family support. Upstate Warrior Solution serves Upstate veterans, active duty, National Guard, Reserve, first responders, and their family members. Their short-term goals are to help local warriors ?nd a new purpose in life after transitioning out of the military or first responder service, and to help warriors obtain ?nancial stability through employment. Their long-term goals are to end warrior unemployment, homelessness, and suicide in the Upstate. Success Story: Leonard, a Marine Corps veteran, moved to South Carolina from New England in the fall of 2024 for a new job opportunity. When the Upstate Warrior Solution (UWS) team in Anderson connected with him, he was living in his car and only occasionally in hotels. The timing of meeting Leonard could not have been better, since UWS was co-facilitating a veteran homelessness stand down event in Anderson shortly after. Leonard came to the event and connected with representatives from over 20 organizations with resources to support him. After the event, UWS’s advocacy team helped Leonard apply for VA housing through Alston Wilkes Society. They also assisted him in transferring his medical records to the Greenville VA clinic. Today, Leonard is stably housed through SSVF. He will continue to have UWS’s ongoing support as he integrates into the Anderson community. Upstate Warrior Solution invites everyone in the community to refer local warriors to Upstate Warrior Solution. They also have two upcoming events: ? Saturday, April 19- #StayWithMe Rowing Marathon supporting first responder mental health:?https://lnkd.in/d-FmufMv ? Saturday, May 24- Palmetto Heroes Hike honoring South Carolina's fallen miliary and first responders:?https://lnkd.in/d76rqXXC

  • ?SPOTLIGHT? Bel-Aire exists to know, love and partner with their neighbors by promoting and giving opportunity for their spiritual, educational and relational growth. They offer an after-school and tutoring program for students K5-5th grade and leadership development for middle and high school students. They also have a teen basketball program on Tuesday nights and hold community events for families and students throughout the year. Bel-Aire serves students from a historically under-resourced neighborhood. Most of their students live right at or below the poverty?level. Because of this, they see a huge need for educational support in the?community, along with the need for healthy mentorships and friendships. Challenges for these students include lack of educational support, limited transportation and a scarcity of resources and connections One of their Core Values is Educational Experience. That looks like tutoring and checking grades, and it also looks like exposing these students to different careers?and opportunities that they wouldn’t otherwise have access?to. Over Thanksgiving they were able to take a group of teens to tour and meet with some friends who run an electrical company and learn more about electricians and electrical engineering. They found out a few weeks ago that one of the high school seniors on that field trip took the initiative to reach out to their friend there, interviewed and received a job! Their staff was able to take him to the DMV to get an ID so that he could start working last week. Bel-Aire’s hope is that they can help expose our students to as many connections and career paths as they are able to. There are lots of ways to get involved with Bel-Aire! The two biggest are to give financially and to volunteer. They offer all programs at no cost to our families to allow easy access. Financial gifts help support all of those programs. They have volunteer opportunities that include tutoring, bringing a meal, playing basketball or mentoring. Visit their website to learn more: belairegvl.org.

  • ?SPOTLIGHT? Lily Pad is dedicated to demonstrating God’s love by supporting vulnerable youth in diverse ways and focused on creating safe spaces where they can thrive and find support. Children in foster care often face frequent relocations, with many moving 5-8 times during their time in care. This instability is exacerbated by the fact that children in South Carolina’s foster system rarely remain in their home counties, further amplifying their sense of displacement. In South Carolina alone, there are over 3,500 children in foster care. Hundreds of children experience these challenges, which can include spending hours or even days in DSS offices without access to a comforting or supportive environment. Beyond physical discomfort, these children face significant risks without strong support systems. Statistically, if children do not feel valued or supported, they are more likely to become victims of exploitation and other hardships. Approximately 60% of human trafficking victims are current or former foster youth, 50% of the homeless population are individuals who have experienced foster care, and 20% of the incarcerated population comes from this vulnerable group. The need for environments that provide comfort and affirm their value is critical. Since their founding in March 2022, Lily Pad has directly addressed this need by creating 26 transformed spaces, known as Lily Pads, across South Carolina. These spaces provide children with a safe and welcoming environment during a critical and uncertain period. Each Lily Pad is thoughtfully designed with furniture, decor, and resources tailored to the needs of children in care, ensuring that every space feels like a home away from home. To date, their efforts have served 2,602 children in South Carolina, providing them with a place to rest, play, and feel valued. Their work goes beyond physical spaces. They also aim to spread awareness of the urgent need for more foster families and the challenges faced by children in care. By providing real beds with clean linens instead of a cot on the floor, they help alleviate the trauma children experience during an already difficult time. This approach uniquely addresses the mental health needs of foster youth. The installation of a Lily Pad not only meets the immediate needs of children in foster care but also positively impacts caseworkers, foster families, and the broader community by creating a more supportive and dignified environment for all involved. By continuing to grow, they aim to ensure that every child experiencing foster care in South Carolina has access to a Lily Pad—a soft place to land during their journey. ? Lily Pad has a need in every county for volunteers willing to maintain the Lily Pad spaces so every child finds them clean and organized.?They have a volunteer form on their website where volunteers can inquire about needs and send their availability.
