READ: Advance CTE and Association for Career and Technical Education release statement regarding the staffing and funding actions at the U.S. Department of Education and impacts on the Career Technical Education (CTE) community. “Education plays a central role in every American’s life, but efforts to eliminate ED send a deeply troubling message about the value our nation places on education. With most current and future careers requiring increasing levels of academic, technical and employability skills, including at least some form of postsecondary education, now is the time to strengthen– rather than undermine– federal support for education, including CTE.”

“There’s no reason why men and women can’t work side by side on a job site. We just need to continue fostering environments where everyone ... feels they belong.” - Kristin Sine-Kinz Kristin Sine-Kinz, Chief of Staff to the Vice President for Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education at Monroe Community College (MCC) and an NYSACTE Postsecondary CTE Leaders Fellow, is a leader dedicated to expanding access, creating opportunities, and fostering economic mobility through reshaping workforce pathways in New York. Kristin’s passion for workforce development extends beyond her professional life into her personal one. Her daughter, Emma, enrolled in a high school carpentry CTE program, and Kristin has a firsthand view of what it means to support women entering traditionally male-dominated fields. “Women in Construction Week is a chance to celebrate the progress we’ve made while also recognizing the work still to be done,” Kristin said. “Watching my daughter navigate this space has reinforced the importance of mentorship, visibility, and access to opportunities for women in the trades.” Read more about Kristin and how she is pushing for changes that will redefine the future of career training in New York State and beyond on the NYSACTE Postsecondary CTE Leaders Fellowship blog. https://lnkd.in/gNnuznVT

Trip to Novato Unified School District ??? Last month, I had the absolute joy of spending time with Novato Unified School District, celebrating nine years of helping students develop self-awareness and connect their learning to meaningful careers! Our journey began at Marin Oaks, where Principal Kessa Early has been a true champion for student success. I had the privilege of working with juniors and seniors in small groups, helping them navigate their next steps with confidence. I also spent time with Marin Oaks staff, exploring communication styles and strategies to strengthen student connections. The celebration continued at Hamilton Middle School, where Principal Bryan Clement is leading the way as the first middle school in the district to implement Indigo. His commitment was clear—he had his own Indigo report out on his desk before our meeting even started! They’re setting the stage for even more schools to follow. After a week of incredible conversations, inspiring students, and dedicated educators, my heart is full. ?? Here’s to another year of empowering students and shaping futures!
