Indigitize is partnering with GenerationAI by ISTE + ASCD to launch our GenerationAI for Education Community of Practice (CoP) in 2025. By joining this CoP, educators will create professional development sessions tailored to their school’s needs, emphasizing equity and excellence for Indigenous communities. As part of GenerationAI, this initiative builds a deeper understanding of AI, explores its potential in teaching, amplifies educator voices, and strengthens dialogue around AI’s role in education. The cohort will start in January and meet throughout the spring semester. Applications are open, with accepted educators notified by the end of December. We look forward to being one of the workshop facilitators alongside Kapor Center featuring kirk morrison and Manisha Priyadarshini to talk through Darktrace cybersecurity and GitHub developer workflows that responsibly leverage AI and how we can be a net positive to conservation projects.

Exciting news! Google is making a huge investment of over $25 million in AI training for teachers, directly impacting New Mexico students. This investment will benefit organizations like New Mexico-based Indigitize , which focuses on engaging Indigenous youth in Computer Science Education. We had a great day at #AISESNC24 STEM Activities Day! At our station, students wrote collective poems guided by the theme of "Indigenous Knowledge in Computer Science". Then, we discussed the parallels between poetry and coding. Students put their poem into a CodePen and used code to visually display their poems.
