During the event "Indigenous Women Breaking Paradigms: From Dreams to Actions", held as part of CSW69 and Beijing+30, Sarita Gupta, Vice President of U.S. Programs at the Ford Foundation, delivered a powerful message on the role of philanthropy in ensuring access to resources for Indigenous Women. ?? Funding is not just about providing resources—it’s about equity and participation. Sarita emphasized that donors must go beyond traditional grantmaking by ensuring that funding processes: ? Respect Indigenous knowledge and governance systems. ? Are long-term and flexible, allowing for sustainable solutions. ? Engage Indigenous Women and their organizations from the start in strategy and decision-making. ? Include Indigenous women leaders in the spaces where funding decisions are made. ?? Donors have a responsibility not only to provide resources but to ensure they directly reach Indigenous communities and respond to their realities. This year 2025 the Global Disability Summit (GDS) the upcoming discussion in Berlin from April 2-4 will focus on underrepresented groups with disabilities #ClimateJustice, #SRHR and Role of Indigenous Person/Women with Disabilities, #Right to Health for Deaf Indigenous Women with Disabilities and Political Participation of Indigenous Person and Women with Disabilities on three major themes. On April 3rd, from 1.00 – 1.30 pm at Fireside Chat Area 2, the critical discussion on "Amplifying the Voices of Underrepresented Indigenous Person and Women with Disabilities and Key Solutions for Climate Justice" will be discussed and focused.
