The Indigenous Determinants of Health Alliance is an Indigenous Peoples Organization devoted to advocating for and fostering culturally safe systemic change globally through the incorporation of the Indigenous holistic perspective, knowledge, and systems in the policies, initiatives, and interventions impacting Indigenous health and wellbeing.

Life is what we do, culture is how we do it. I'm proud to announce that in January I will begin work on the United Nations Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032), representing Indigenous Peoples of the United States.
We are pleased and excited to let you know that the Indigenous Determinants of Health Alliance (IDHA) has now become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This opens new opportunities to expand the IDHA work through tax-exempt charitable donations and grant based initiatives. We are now better prepared to advance Indigenous health rights at national and global levels. Thanks for supporting the IDHA in our endeavors!

The Indigenous Determinants of Health Alliance (IDHA), in partnership with the Ban Ki-moon Foundation, convened a strategic meeting on advancing Biodiversity-related Indigenous issues at the UN Conference of Parties (COP16) in Cali Colombia with Members of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), Indigenous technical experts, and youth from Indigenous international organizations. The group gathered to strategize on vital issues, such as separating Indigenous Peoples issues from other populations' affairs, Indigenous Rights regarding Digital Sequence Information, Traditional Medicine, and direct financing of Indigenous organizations under the CBD Funding pledges. The IDHA is now accredited under the CBD as an observer and will continue to represent and defend Indigenous issues related to biological diversity.
IDHA Board Chair, Geoffrey Roth, highlighted the WHO Report on Biodiversity, Traditional Medicine, and Health at COP16 in Cali, Colombia. The report emphasized vital negotiations surrounding the autonomy of Indigenous Peoples and local communities within biodiversity projects under the UNDRIP framework. #IDHA #WHO #COP16 #Biodiversity #IndigenousRights

The Indigenous Determinants of Health Alliance (IDHA) is thrilled to announce we have joined the Planetary Health Alliance (PHA)! With a focus on advocating for systemic change through the adoption of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues; Indigenous Determinants of Health (IDH) Framework, we are excited to align with PHA to promote sustainability and address the interconnectedness of Planetary Health and Indigenous Health. Our work, including the 2023 IDH Study chapter on The Health of Mother Earth, emphasizes the vital relationship between human health and the environment, biodiversity, and all living beings. Additionally, the 2024 Study provides essential guidelines for agencies to support Indigenous Rights to care for our lands and the environment. Joining PHA's diverse global network of over 400 organizations and universities, we are committed to addressing the impacts of environmental change on human health.
