We are thrilled to have hosted NGEN for their first Founder Trek in NYC, bringing together an incredible group of entrepreneurs from various universities to explore the city's vibrant startup and venture capital ecosystem. We engaged in meaningful conversations about early-stage deep tech from both the investor and founder perspectives, highlighting the opportunities and challenges in the space. IndieBio is always excited to support the next generation of entrepreneurs!

IndieBio NY's Unibaio just won a $1 million Grand Prize at Grow-NY, a six-round competition sponsored by New York State designed to nurture economic growth across the rich farming areas of New York's Finger Lakes, Central and Southern Tier regions. Unibaio, which started out at IndieBio NY's BSL 2 lab in Manhattan, produces naturally derived particles that trap the active ingredients of pesticides and fertilizers, enabling them to penetrate plants more efficiently. Last Thursday, IndieBio NY along with 5 premier NYC life science hubs hosted more than 250 students across the city as a proud partner of the second annual Life Science Cares New York Life Science Day in collaboration with the New York City Economic Development Corporation. The purpose of the day was to highlight the diverse career opportunities within the biotech, life sciences and healthcare sector in addition to hosting interactive tours, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities with top professionals in the industry. At IndieBio, we welcomed students from Thurgood Marshall Academy and The Judith S. Kay High School where they had the opportunity to paint with bacteria as part of a BioArt workshop led by Karen Ingram and learned how to use a BioDesign framework as a way to think about creating human and planetary health companies led by SOSV Partner Sabriya Stukes, PhD. Student teams even had a chance to "pitch" their ideas to a panel of judges! The day concluded with a "Lunch and Learn" where students were able to interact with IndieBio founders and others in the biotech ecosystem.
