Please watch this video. During Maternal Mental Health week, we are reminded that pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood come with new and often intense emotions. It's not always easy to recognize or speak up when we need help. Reach out anyway. As we wrap up Black Maternal Health Week 2024, I am inspired by all the powerful voices and action behind the movement to improve outcomes for expectant and new moms. Our extreme maternal morbidity and mortality rates among Back moms in the U.S. are unacceptable. ? Together, we can - and will - do better. We will improve access to care, safety, protocols, and policies – and, perhaps most important, we will engage moms in their care and educate them on the warning signs and symptoms of complications. Let’s give them the language, tools, and confidence to self-advocate and describe what they are experiencing to their healthcare providers. Patients are “the most underutilized resource” in solving our maternal-child health crisis. #BMHW24 #WarnerSlack, #maternalmortality, #maternalmorbidities, #improvingbirthoutcomes, #indicatehealth, #wecandobetter

The extreme cost of maternal morbidities to our healthcare and society – tallied at $32.3 billion - combined with the significant lack of knowledge surrounding these morbidities spotlights the need for (1) providing expectant and new moms with holistic, engaging education on warning signs and symptoms, (2) guiding moms in how to self-advocate to their clinicians, and (3) gathering real-world evidence about awareness, time of occurrence, treatment, and more. We can only advance solutions with real-world data and we can only access the data by connecting with moms throughout their pregnancies, postpartum period and child's early life. #reducingmaternalmorbidities #maternalhealth #stopmaternalmortality #wecandobetter #indicatehealth https://lnkd.in/dhzbitSm

As we begin American Heart Month, patient safety is at the forefront of our minds. According to a new report from ECRI, the use of medical devices in the home is a top patient safety concern for 2024. This is especially critical for perinatal women who are self-monitoring their blood pressure. It's essential for them to know how, when, and why to take these measurements. That's where our Perinatal Hypertension education and monitoring module comes in. Our program not only walks birthing people through the basics but also provides wrap-around care addressing the emotional, social, and psychological aspects of having perinatal hypertension. INDICATE Health uses digital connections to provide much needed education to birthing people everywhere. Let’s work to overcome this structural barrier together. “Collectively, better education and resources, plus new diagnostics, are among the ways to potentially elevate the quality of healthcare women receive. There is a lack of data on maternal health overall, which can lead to inadequate healthcare services for pregnant women and new mothers. The lack of data obscures the full picture of maternal health needs, making pregnancy and birth more dangerous for women and creating challenges around which interventions or policies to prioritize. The WHO reports that every day in 2020, approximately 800 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. translating to a death every two minutes. ? Health education is one of the most effective ways to help women learn about their bodies.” https://lnkd.in/gfP-2Vsa
