Congratulations to Dr. Teresa Rodriguez-Calvo and coauthors on publication of their work investigating tissue positivity for enteroviral capsid protein VP1 and its association with hyperexpression of HLA class I in islet cells among organ donors with and without type 1 diabetes! To date, the study is the most extensive analysis of VP1 and HLA-I in pancreases from donors with preclinical and diagnosed type 1 diabetes, and we are delighted that HALO and HALO AI could assist with automated classification of islet and acinar areas and quantification of VP1+ cells.
