IT’S A BOY! Orangutan mom, Sirih, gave birth to a healthy male baby yesterday afternoon. The Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center is now home to 12 individuals. This birth is the result of close collaboration with The Association of Zoos and Aquariums’s Orangutan SSP (Orangutan Species Survival Plan). Our (elated) animal care team says that both mom and baby are doing great. Sirih and baby will likely be out on public view shortly, so stay tuned for updates… and more pictures! Many thanks to Butler University - Lacy School of Business and Butler University DECA for hosting a discussion about the business side of the Indianapolis Zoo. Butler University's DECA students are a great group of future business leaders and we had a terrific conversation about the many career opportunities our profession offers. We even had a few biology and zoology majors sneak in! Thank you for the dialog and such great questions.
