  • Did you know that Charlie Chaplin’s signature “toothbrush” mustache was artificial? He even once entered a Charlie Chaplin-look-alike competition and came in third! His life was full of amazing stories and connections. Chaplin was one of the inspirations for Mickey Mouse, he then later worked with Disney as a distributor and helped in negotiations for Snow White.?Also, in 1975, Chaplin was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, becoming Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, in honor of his immense contributions to the arts.? Chaplin’s estate, Manoir de Ban (Lake Geneva, Switzerland), opened in 2016 becoming home to Chaplin’s World Museum. It offers a tour of Chaplin’s life and work, preserving the look created by Chaplin and his family. Chaplin's talent knew no bounds, but it was almost always accompanied by a borderline obsession with perfectionism, although this relentless pursuit of excellence is what allowed Chaplin’s work to be timeless. Chaplin built an entire Alaskan winter village in the scorching California weather, which attracted crowds of sightseers to the snow-covered set. Also, while filming “The Gold Rush”, Chaplin did 63 takes of a scene where he eats a boot made of licorice. The high sugar intake even landed him in the hospital. He was also known for recording thousands of feet of film for what were supposed to be just a few minutes. In “City Lights,” actress Virginia Cherrill had to say just two words, “Flowers, sir,” but Chaplin’s perfectionism led to 342 takes. Although his legacy is now seen as a staple in the film industry, it was not always the case. With a career spanning over 75 years, the relentless pursuit of excellence is what allowed Chaplin’s work to be timeless. Chaplin's ability to blend music with his cinematic art is just one of the many reasons his legacy endures. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gFcNvzHX. For tickets to the March 8th performance, visit: https://lnkd.in/gAjSBKhx.?This performance is almost sold out, so don't wait to get your tickets! The Gold Rush ? Roy Export S.A.S
