Farmer members recently discussed agricultural policy issues with Congressman Mark Messmer. He serves on the House Agriculture Committee and is eager to learn about issues important to corn and soybean farmers. The Indiana Corn Growers Association and Indiana Soybean Alliance Membership and Policy Committee host Coffee Shop Talk meetings with legislators.

ICGA Board President Chris Cherry testified on behalf of SB 254, the Biofuels Tax Credit Bill, during the hearing on Feb. 4. Almost half of Indiana's corn crop goes toward in-state ethanol production, and ethanol contributes $3 billion to household incomes. Increasing demand for corn through ethanol benefits both the farmer and the state's economy. ??In honor of our ICGA Board Meeting today, we want to highlight Board President Chris Cherry! A dedicated farmer from New Palestine, IN, Chris farms corn, soybeans, and wheat in Hancock County alongside his brother and uncle. With a background in agricultural sales and crop insurance, Chris is focused on key initiatives like advocating for the next federal farm bill and year-round E-15. His deep commitment to the stewardship of Indiana's agricultural community is at the core of his mission, and he aims to continue the legacy of local farmer Ronnie Mohr. Chris and his wife Cristi have been married 32 years and have three daughters and two grandchildren. Thank you for your service to the ICGA Board, Chris! ??
