This #InternationalEducationWeek in addition to celebrating our Education Abroad accomplishments, we're honored to be a recipient of the #OpenDoors seal of excellence. This commemorates 75 years of participating the the Open Doors report, the only comprehensive report tracking international student mobility. While we may celebrate 75 years of Open Doors this year, Indiana University welcomed its first international student more than a century earlier in 1842! This was followed by IU's first study abroad trips, the famous "Summer Tramps" walking tour of Europe, in 1879. With a history of global engagement this long it's no secret why more than 140,000 IU alumni are part of the IU Global community!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Juan Carlos Alarcon, a Grammy-winning alumnus and Director of Choirs at Indiana University South Bend, whose dedication to choral music and mentoring emerging talent truly enriches our IU community: bit.ly/4fBfrJE
