With eagles watching from high atop the shoreline trees, Brian Finch, Patoka Lake’s assistant property manager and wildlife specialist, guided the property’s new flat-bottom boat across the water. As he prepared to drop in a few fish structures, he explained the many benefits of the new resource boat. Made possible by a grant from our partners at TC Energy, the boat gives property staff important resources to manage habitat, improve fishing opportunities, increase public access, and much more. More than 4,800 students will venture out to an Indiana State Parks property for a Discover the Outdoors field trip this school year. Those students are participating in a milestone year with a program high of nearly $25,000 expected to be distributed! Thanks to ongoing support from our donors and partners, Discover the Outdoors continues to inspire the next generation of Hoosier conservationists. More than $1.6 million raised, 821 acres of public land acquired, and more than 500 acres of habitat created. Since 2012, the Northeast Indiana Conservation Partnership & Preservation group has supported the INRF and DNR in increasing public land and improving outdoor recreation. In May, the group gathered with dozens of friends and conservationists to continue fundraising efforts, ultimately raising more than $200,000. In our latest impact story, we highlight the celebratory evening and the unique projects accomplished in the region.
