Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout the state of Indiana. ILS helps clients who are faced with legal problems that harm their ability to have such basics as food, shelter, income, medical care or personal safety. Most of the cases ILS handles are cases such as family law where there is domestic violence, housing, consumer law, access to health care, and access to government benefits. ILS does not handle any criminal matters.

The Southside USCTC was established in April 2023 as catalyst to engage, invest and mobilize the residents of these southeast neighborhoods.?Its mission is to “protect, preserve and revitalize the communities, families and stories of the U.S. Colored Troop descendants of Indianapolis’ southside.” Currently, the coalition represents four key historic neighborhoods:?Norwood (1841), Barrington (1839), Babe Denny (1869) and Hosbrook (1867).?This includes a catchment area of Sherman Avenue (East), Meridian Street (West), Michigan Street (North) and Troy Avenue (South).??
