Downard Steps Aside from the Indiana IADA to Accept New Role After leading the Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association since 2021, Alex Downard will step aside at the end of the month to accept the President & CEO role at the Community Foundation of Wabash County. Since Sand Strategies took over the management of the Association in 2021, we are proud to have developed the pre-licensing education program, launched a new website and membership portal, crafted an Association health plan, grown membership, built new vendor relationships and improved partnership opportunities, developed an annual Convention, and brought the Association back to life post-pandemic. In order to ensure a seamless transition, Zack Sand will serve as the interim Executive Director while the leadership of the Indiana IADA determines a long-term solution moving forward.

Dan Francis of Andrews Auto Sales from Evansville, Indiana is a Buy Here Pay Here?dealer?who was recently awarded Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association's 2024 Quality?Dealer?of the Year. Andrews Auto Sales is a 3rd?generation family-owned business?established in 1972. Participating in 20 Groups over the past 2 decades has, in Dan's words, "greatly influenced what we do and how we do it." From the Heartland to the West Coast, NIADA visited with dealers during recent state events over the past month. NIADA joined the Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association for its annual convention and golf outing. Independent dealers from across Indiana filled morning sessions to receive a used vehicle market analysis and discuss inventory management. Representatives from the Better Business Bureau, the Indiana Attorney General’s office and the Indiana Secretary of State office met with members during the lunch buffet. The afternoon session featured an address from Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales. To wrap up the convention session, the 2024 Indiana State Quality Dealer award was presented to Dan Francis of Andrews Auto Sales in Evansville, Indiana. NIADA also joined more than 100 dealers at the Washington State Independent Auto Dealers Association West Education Fair in Seattle. The day full of education included speakers from the Department of Commerce, Department of Licensing, Department of Revenue and the Attorney General’s Office. WSIADA Director of Operations Rick Olson and President Badie Darwazeh kicked off the event encouraging dealers to get involved with their association to help protect the industry. Denis Costin of Independent Motors in Bellevue won a trip to the NIADA Policy Conference in Washington D.C. later this month. Denis has never attended the policy conference and looks forward to joining his fellow independent dealers and adding his voice to the cause.??
