Gov. Eric Holcomb and The Council of State Governments’ delegation today met with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic’s Secretary General Dimitris Skalkos in Greece. The group discussed growing our bilateral partnership and sectors where we could further cooperate. Gov. Holcomb has focused on strengthening Indiana’s global presence. Building Indiana’s economy of the future doesn’t happen without our trade and investment partners from around the world.

Today in Athens, Gov. Holcomb and representatives from the IEDC met with leaders from Pharmaserve-Lilly S.A.C.I., including President and Managing Director Denis Filiotis and Vice President and General Manager Spyros Filiotis. We learned more about Pharmaserve’s history with Eli Lilly and Company. Since 1994, these two companies with entrepreneurial founders and built with family have partnered to drive innovation in drug development and production. Their work together has improved quality of life for so many around the world. Corporate partnerships like this can foster innovation at a rapid rate and create opportunities for workforces at home in Indiana and abroad. Indiana’s life sciences ecosystem is booming. Recently, Eli Lilly and Company announced another $4.5 billion investment in Lebanon, Indiana’s LEAP Research and Innovation District. Lilly's approximate $13 billion investment in LEAP is expected to create 1,100 jobs. #indiana #greece #economicdevelopment #lifesciences

This meeting and this trip underscore Indiana’s commitment to fostering international relationships and creating opportunities for economic growth. In 2023, AmCham Greece signed an MoU with Purdue University, committing to explore new initiatives to foster R&D in the academic and business community. In Perry County, Indiana, READI matching funds are being leveraged to support the $10.3 million first phase of the Hoosier Heights development, with $1 million of READI 1.0 providing the necessary infrastructure to support the new subdivision. The first phase of development is expected to create 33 new family homes by the end of 2026 – with the potential to house up to 81 homes in later phases of development – filling a critical need for housing in Perry County and supporting the region’s continued talent retention and attraction efforts.
