?? Reflecting on an incredible opportunity I had while working with WISE Indiana at Indiana CTSI. As part of the Purdue team, I was entrusted with project planning, data structuring, and conducting in-depth data analyses for an independent assessment of the 1915(b)(4) waiver in Indiana for the 1915(i) programs. I also had the rewarding experience of crafting comprehensive reports and presenting key findings to stakeholders. It was an honor to be featured in the WISE Indiana 2024 Annual Report, showcasing the meaningful impact of our work on improving mental health services across the state. https://lnkd.in/gRp9RCNB I’m truly grateful for this experience and the valuable insights it gave me into public health, mental health services, and evidence-based program assessment. Excited to continue making a difference in this field!

I am excited to share that I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Indiana CTSI 2024 Annual Meeting, ‘Precision to Population’! The event was packed with fascinating talks from experts covering a range of impactful topics. I learned about the use of large administrative and survey data to drive population health research and clinical trials in Africa that aim to enhance health outcomes, improve sustainability, and reduce poverty. It was inspiring to hear about advancements in equitable autism diagnosis through eye-tracking biomarkers being translated into primary care settings. The day was made even better by exploring the innovative research posters—so much cutting-edge work is being done! It was truly an insightful and motivating experience.

It's been a great day at the 2024 Indiana CTSI annual meeting! Today, I'm so proud of the amazing students who I had the opportunity to work with this summer for our new Ivy Tech-CTSI immersive summer research program. They did incredible work and had the chance to create posters and present alongside other researchers today. This program is such a great opportunity for students to be introduced to research! ?? #IndianaCTSI #ResearchOpportunity #StudentAchievements

As summer has come to a close, I have been reflecting on my internship with CTSI. I am incredibly blessed and honored to have this experience and learn from esteemed faculty at the Indiana University School of Medicine. My internship concluded with a symposium where I shared the research project that I completed this summer. My project utilized a dopamine dependent assay to further investigate dopamine dysfunction associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. Interestingly, I found a difference between male and female performance in the assay. This discovery emphasizes the importance of studying areas in the brain other than the hippocampus in an AD model. Knowing that in the clinical setting females are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s and experience worse affects of the disease, my data opens up a new avenue of research to understand if sex differences are associated with dopamine dysfunction. I would like to express gratitude to Indiana CTSI, Indiana University School of Medicine, Stark Neurosciences Research Institute, Kathryn Fischer, and the entirety of the Fischer Lab. It was a privilege to conduct research that so closely aligns with my passions in a clinical setting, and I hope to use the information that I have learned to improve patient care.
