Meet Heather – our wonderful Office Administrator for Mechanics and Reconditioning! At IAA she is responsible for answering and assisting callers, utilizing various spreadsheets, and billing work orders for our Mechanic, Recon, and Auto Glass departments. Next month she’ll celebrate her 1-year anniversary at the auction! ?? Heather loves the atmosphere here and says it’s always positive ?? - such as hearing “You’re awesome” from management and fellow teammates. Before joining us, Heather served in the Army as a Human Resources Specialist and has 10 years of administrative experience. When she’s not at work, she loves to read, draw, and spend time outside fishing, kayaking, and hanging at the beach with friends. Thank you, Heather, ?? for all you do! We love featuring the amazing people that make up the auction! So, meet Matt who’s a part of our Check-In/Registration team. On a weekly basis, he organizes cars on the lot according to the seller, checks in units, helps clear our lot after Thursday’s sale and assists in pick ups as needed. This month Matt celebrates his 10-year anniversary at Indiana Auto Auction! He started as a driver then progressed to our car wash crew before landing in Check-In. In his decade here, Matt really appreciates the relationships he's built with the team. Especially Mike Ray who hired Matt and refers to him as “Legend”. Away from work, he is a low-key Buffalo Bills fan and enjoys quality time with friends attending movies, concerts or playing disc golf. Thank you, Matt, ?? for all you do! It’s #teammemberTuesday, so let’s highlight Dontea – mechanics and race winner at Indiana Auto Auction! ??. He joined us in December 2024, bringing 17 years of automotive repair experience ??Prior to IAA, he attended school for Paint & Body, owned DTS Customs, built a 1985 Cutlass that he did an LS and dashboard swap for, and was a Crew Leader for 4 years at Steel Dynamics. Weekly, Dontea is responsible for servicing, inspecting, maintaining, and test-driving vehicles for auction and post-sale arbitrated units. His favorite parts of being at IAA are the people and job environment; he appreciates the opportunities given to learn and grow. Beyond Dontea’s duties here, he spends time servicing cars, attending to his children and mother, operating his business Sanders Industrial Cleaning Solutions, and working at Outback Steakhouse. Dontea practices James Baker’s 5P’s – proper preparation prevents poor performance. He also believes that “People do not change until the price of staying the same is too high.” Thank you, Dontea, ?? for all you do! For this week's Team Member Tuesday, we want to highlight Blake, our Fleet Operations Manager.??? He joined the IAA team in 2021, initially taking on the role of Condition Report writer. Within just six months, he progressed to Outside Coordinator and then stepped into the managerial position a little over a year later. Each day, Blake manages all aspects of lease check-ins and condition reports. His duties include arranging pre-sale certifications and overseeing necessary mechanical work. Essentially, every vehicle on the lease/repo side receives a condition report along with a pre-sale mechanical assessment based on the customer's preferences. The team ensures that these vehicles are repaired as needed, maximizing profits for sellers while providing buyers with high-quality inventory for their dealerships. What Blake enjoys most about working at Indiana Auto Auction is his colleagues! The workplace boasts a diverse array of individuals from various backgrounds and ages ranging from 18 to 90. He values the insights and experiences shared by the seasoned, retired drivers. “I have been lucky enough to reunite with some people at IAA that I had previously worked with, (Jacob and Troy). I love that we have an incredibly experienced management team, and I can lean on them when I need guidance. It has been a huge help as a newer manager.” Blake feels that his experience as a Runner-Up in the 2014 Noble County Spelling Bee has contributed positively to his current job.? ?He loves to say, “Be the Vitamin!” Away from work, his passion lies in watching NFL RedZone every Sunday at 1:00 PM, as he is an enthusiastic NFL and Bears fan. Let's all welcome Lucette! She is one of our Inside Sales Representatives overseeing regions beyond Ohio, Northern and Southern Indiana, Fort Wayne, and Southern Michigan. Next month, we will celebrate Lucette’s six-year anniversary with us! She truly appreciates the Sales team and management for their dedication to the business and its staff. Lucette’s journey at Indiana Auto Auction began as a driver, progressed to handling check-ins for incoming vehicles, worked at the guard shack for checkouts, and eventually transitioned to Inside Sales. She also assists as a lower block clerk for both HD and car sales. Her weekly responsibilities involve helping dealers via phone, making calls to ensure they will attend the sale (primarily focused on online dealers), and confirming purchases after the sale concludes. Lucette embodies a can-do spirit, always eager to lend a hand wherever needed. Outside of work, she loves watching NASCAR and college football, spending time at the lake, and celebrating birthdays with her close friends. Today, we are thrilled to highlight John, the manager of our Heavy-Duty Truck Division! Serving as the face of the HD, John is engaged in every aspect of his department. You can frequently spot him aiding customers, arranging consigned trucks and trailers, managing sales, and monitoring the lot. Each Wednesday during the truck auction, he steps into the role of auctioneer—a position he has embraced for 42 years. It's noteworthy that he began his auctioneering education at the age of 15 and has committed 39 years to the HD auction sector. John treasures his relationships with both colleagues and clients and possesses a deep passion for HD trucks and the art of auctioneering! His guiding principle is, “Be a team player and always help your coworkers. DON’T ever say that’s not my job!” In his free time, John enjoys outdoor pursuits like fishing, golfing, maintaining his property, or working on his collection of vintage farm tractors and trucks.
