The ideal glucose range should be: 70-140 over a 24-hour window. After a meal: Maximum glucose level (140 or below, ideally). If you’re shooting above that by a lot, you might look at the foods you’re eating before that spike, both what the foods are and how much of them you’re eating. You want your glucose levels to recover within 2-3 hours of eating. Based on her experience with monitoring her sugar levels, Mona Shah shares some recipes that ensure your glucose remains stable and rises only slightly after meals. Read here -

If future worlds only know that we had the means to address climate change but failed to do so, that would be a terrible epitaph to write for our time, cautioned Bill McKibben, founder of Third Act, at an Ethnic Media Services briefing focused on the consequences of climate change and its relevance in the election. “The next president of the states will take office in January of 2029 after this election. So in many ways, this is the last election that deeply and powerfully counts for what you know how hot the planet ends up being.” Climate change largely slipped off the radar for both voters and candidates in this election cycle. It was rated second to last in a recent Gallup poll with just 21% of voters calling it “extremely important." Read more -

Washington DC-based pediatrician turned international bestselling novelist Nadia Hashimi’s latest young adult novel, Spilled Ink (Quill Tree Books), is a story of Muslim, Afghan American siblings who face Islamophobia and xenophobia, finding their footing in suburban America. Thousands of hate crime incidents are reported in the U.S. every year. The author notes that such incidents occur in supposedly safe places, such as homes, roads, schools, restaurants, and playgrounds. These usually show up in the form of graffiti or hate speeches as well as physical or emotional violence, especially post-9/11. ??: Neha Kirpal Read full review -

Despite both world leaders slapping heavy tariffs on each other, President-elect Donald Trump and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi have created a friendly relationship for the past 8 years, and that relationship is expected to continue in Trump’s 2nd term. In a post-election interview with EMS, Dr. Sumit Ganguly, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University, said Trump’s popularity in India could be attributed to frustration with the left wing of the Democratic Party, which has criticized human rights violations and abuses in India. Local officials are beginning to certify the results of this year’s presidential election in a process that, so far, has been playing out quietly, in stark contrast to the tumultuous certification period four years ago that followed then-President Donald Trump’s loss. The lack of certification drama so far this week is a return to how the typically routine process worked before Trump lost his reelection bid four years ago. As he sought then to overturn the will of the voters, he and his allies pressured Republican members of certification boards in Michigan to delay or halt the process. They also sought to delay certifications in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. ??: CHRISTINA A. CASSIDY and ALI SWENSON for Associated Press Read more -
