We are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida. Our hearts go out to all affected, especially our IEC chapters and the communities they serve. We know there is much work ahead, but as an association, we stand united in support of the hardworking electrical contractors and electricians who will be leading the charge in rebuilding. Together, we’ll help restore what’s been lost and bring hope back to those in need. #WeAreIEC

After extensive discussions with the City of Tampa, local weather officials, and the convention meeting facilities regarding the impact of Hurricane Milton, we have decided to cancel SPARK: The Electrician’s Expo, Oct 14-16, 2024. As always, our top priority is the safety of our attendees, exhibitors, speakers, staff, and the Florida community as the area readies for a major storm. IEC will reach out regarding next steps around the refund process within 14 days. Please contact your hotel directly to cancel reservations if you booked outside of the IEC housing system and your airline.

We are closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and are in communication with local authorities and the Tampa Convention Center to assess any potential impact on SPARK. The safety of our attendees and the Tampa community is our top priority. Please check your email and the SPARK website for further updates as we continue to evaluate the situation.

On October 1, the International Longshoremen’s Association went on strike, shutting down activity at some of the country’s biggest ports. This action threatens to cripple the electrical industry’s supply chain, drive costs up, and slow economic growth. In response, IEC recently joined over 270 state and federal trade associations in a?letter to President Biden calling on the administration to take immediate action to end this work stoppage.
