The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, a federal grant initiative, invested over $4.3 billion in small business research and development in 2023. It represents the pinnacle of federal investment for early-stage startups, with 11 agencies, including the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, providing up to $2 million to small businesses without taking equity. The IncuStart Wet Labs by ThermoGenesis Holdings, Inc. is a Life Sciences incubator located in the Greater Sacramento area. The IncuStart Wet Labs provide 24 rentable 6ft lab benches?in over 2,000ft2?of BL2 co-working wet lab space. Shared lab equipment includes Biosafety Cabinets, 160L Incubators, Centrifuges, along with shared cold and freezer storage. Two cell culture rooms are available. The IncuStart Wet Labs are located in a facility that is over 35,000ft2?with shared and private offices, cubicles, and meeting rooms available. When it is time to scale up, companies can transition to the ISO class 7 ReadyStart Cleanrooms located in the same facility.
