After my recent posts about reviews, many of you asked about handling product variations. Here's a strategy we use at Incrementum Digital that most sellers overlook: Let's say you're launching a soap line with 4 different scents. Instead of launching them as variations under one listing, launch them as separate listings first. Why? The Amazon Vine program allows 30 reviews per listing. If you launch as variations, you get 30 reviews TOTAL. But if you launch separately, you get 30 reviews PER SCENT. That means: Combined listing = 30 reviews Separate listings = 120 reviews (30 x 4) Later, you can combine them into one listing if you want. Amazon doesn't have any issues with this approach - although they say sometimes not all reviews will come over at merger, we haven’t seen this as an issue. Will this get you to 3,000 or 5,000 reviews? No. But it's a solid strategy to jumpstart your product launch with more reviews.
