Every generation has its own version of a tech scare that will “replace humans with robots,” right? **??** Our current technological villain is AI. In the healthcare industry specifically, the fear is rooted in a belief that once AI can administer patient care, the need for nursing staff will be obsolete (reported by 64% of nurses). This fear is fed by the growing concern of a generational divide between seasoned nurses and new grads entering the job market. But is this how AI is actually being utilized in healthcare? ?? According to Iman Abuzeid, CEO of Incredible Health, it’s actually the opposite. Of the hospitals that reported utilizing AI technology, only 11% use it to recommend patient care. The tools are predominately used for administrative tasks that allow nurses to be more efficient and spend more of their time with patients. Hospitals are well aware of the expertise and mentorship that seasoned nurses bring to the workplace and, at least for now, aren’t interested in losing that to AI. So, how can hospitals combat these fears in their staff? Iman recommends an open communication policy ??Executives should share their roadmap, intended usage, and positive impact with their nurses while being open to recommendations and feedback from the people who use it on a daily basis. ?? The War for Nurse Talent is On ??? The power in nurse hiring has shifted, with a massive shortage of nurses still looming over the healthcare industry. To stay in the game, hospitals must find new ways to entice candidates, and our research shows that money might not be enough ?? Incredible Health CEO Iman Abuzeid sat down with Becker’s Healthcare to discuss the state of the nursing industry and the results of this year's State of Nursing Survey. One major takeaway: Speed is the name of the game! Iman shared that 61% of nurses accept their first job offer, even if other offers have higher pay! According to statistics from Incredible Health, hospitals that can make offers quickly hire more often than hospitals with higher salaries and bigger brands. Her advice to hospital execs: ??? Get creative! Find ways to work with a candidate. ??? Stay flexible! Work on finding anywhere in the healthcare system where the candidate would be a good fit. ??? Speed is your best competitive edge, but don’t forget about salary. ??? Listen to your staff, and the feedback nurses are providing!
