Our team was in Sacramento this week to meet with legislators about our 2025 economic justice agenda! We’re proud to be working with State leaders on legislative efforts to protect the street vendor community, support small businesses and pathways to entrepreneurship, expand affordable housing and commercial space to fight displacement. Meet our Policy team! Our approach to policy and legal advocacy is centered on people impacted by policies and legislation. The policy team is committed to achieving economic justice by: ? Removing barriers that prevent communities from accessing public services ? Advocating for justice-oriented investments that empower underinvested communities ? Creating transparent budgets and government for communities to participate in public processes and holding our leaders to account Structural change is necessary for communities to have agency and power over their lives and livelihoods. When the fires broke out in LA, we sprang into action to help provide cash assistance for outdoor workers who had lost their jobs, income, housing or equipment due to the fires, ash and air quality. Our team has been working hard since January to distribute support to street vendors, landscapers, recyclers, and other open air workers. At the heart of our work, it’s about connection and showing up for our community and advocating for the resources they need. Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported our fire relief fund. ??

??LA -> DC Our team was in Washington this week to meet with national leaders and put a spotlight on our work to advance economic justice and uplift immigrant communities. Proud to join UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS) for their Changemakers Summit, bringing together Latino leaders and advocates throughout the country. Together, we rallied at the Capitol to raise our voices and demand immigration reform. ? We also met with members of LA’s Congressional delegation to share about Inclusive Action’s work. ?? Thank you to Congressmembers Jimmy Gomez, Judy Chu and Luz Rivas for welcoming us to Washington!

We’re so excited that small businesses and nonprofits now have new legal protections for renting commercial spaces. These protections went into effect at the beginning of the year. Thank you to Senator Caroline Menjivar and all our partners who joined us to fight for #SB1103 last year and help protect small businesses and nonprofits in our communities from displacement.
