    Today we’re taking a moment to pause and acknowledge that it’s been one year since a wave of violence was sparked on October 7th in Israel. As we reflect on this anniversary, we recognize the profound impact this conflict continues to have on individuals around the world. In our work, we talk a lot about holding multiple truths at the same time. This year has been a heavy reminder of the critical nature of this practice. We can acknowledge the pain felt by Israelis who lost loved ones, the agonizing wait for families holding out hope for still-missing hostages to return home, and the fact that Jewish people around the world have faced an incredible rise in antisemitism. We can also and at the same time acknowledge the horrendous and ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people, with more than 40,000 dead and countless others displaced and harmed by what many view as acts of genocide. We can acknowledge and condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization, and we can also acknowledge and condemn Israel’s government for their blatant disregard of international law. As we reflect on these events, we share our desire for a de-escalation of violence and the establishment of a path forward that prioritizes justice, humanity, and peace.
