LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY UNDER ATTACK: A RESPONSE FROM THE INCLUSION ALLIES COALITION THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS The attacks on the transgender community that are playing out in multiple presidential executive orders, and in a multitude of bills at the state level, broadly fit into these categories:??? The So-Called Gender Ideology Legislation?that only recognizes two sexes, male and female, has removed reference to transgender people and gender-affirming care from websites and databases. A Ban on Transgender People in the Military?which claims that being transgender “conflicts with a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life” and is harmful to military readiness.. https://lnkd.in/gEWXPHje

Currently, the ACLU is tracking?388 anti-LGBTQ bills. While the administration moves to erase countless references to LGBTQ+ people from federal websites, at least 8,000 webpages have been impacted,?Federal directives have been issued targeting?trans people in prison,?trans service members,?trans youth patients seeking care, and?trans athletes and declared that "the only genders recognized by the U.S. government are male and female—and they are assigned at birth.” ? In light of this extreme attempt to undermine the hard-fought progress of this community and the work of DEI professionals to create welcoming environments for members of this community, we cannot remain silent. The IAC is launching a monthly series of webinars, advocacy and resources focused on supporting marginalized communities, starting with the LGBTQ+ community. This aligns with our mission to "serve as allies for those who feel marginalized and advocates for inclusive policies and practices." ?
