Are GPUs becoming the "dumb" option for AI? Can "Silicon as a Service" dethrone TSMC in chip manufacturing? Are we ready for a data center powered entirely by nuclear energy? I answer all these questions and more in Part 2 of our Emerging Cloud Infrastructure research. I received incredible insights from leaders building and researching across Edge, AI Hardware, Databases and Data Center Energy Usage. In our interview with Chris Miller (author of Chip War, NYTimes #1 Best Seller) he shared about the biggest opportunities in edge computing. Mitchell Hsing from InchFab talked about building a boutique silicon foundry and introduced us to the concept of "Silicon as a Service". PJ Jamkhandi from d-Matrix talked about building chips and training models in similar way to how the human mind works; layering knowledge. Kurt Busch from Syntiant Corp. is building a company that aims to get cloud-level performance in local devices, he is aspiring to build "The Nvidia of Edge". We heard from others as well: David Stout (CEO of webAI), Evan Caron (Co-Founder of Montauk Climate), Joselyn Lai (CEO of Bedrock Energy), Kelly Toole (Product at ClickHouse), Krishna Rangasayee (CEO of SiMa.ai), Philip Krim (Co-Founder of Montauk Climate), Philip Rathle (CTO at Neo4j), Reiner Pope (CEO of MatX), and Tyler Mauer (CTO of WebAI). We're incredibly excited by each one of these companies, and even more so by the future they enable. Thank you, to each one of you, for your perspectives throughout this process. It happened by accident, but this research ventures slightly beyond pure software infrastructure, it reveals a fascinating intersection: hardware really meets software in tomorrow's cloud.
