Warm leads aren’t a forever strategy Relying on referrals and warm leads feels like enough in the early days, but that well runs dry faster than you think. The moment warm channels start working, it’s time to invest in outbound and scalable growth motions. Waiting too long means missing momentum. Nathaniel Houghton, Co-Founder & CEO at Incendium, explains why founders need to think about cold outbound sooner than they expect.

Cold calling vs. cold email: The debate that won’t die. Cold outreach is a cornerstone of B2B sales, but choosing between cold calling and cold emailing isn’t always straightforward. Each has its place—cold email scales quickly and allows for precise targeting, while cold calls create immediate, high-touch engagement. The real key? Aligning the method with your audience’s behavior and decision-making process. Knowing when to dial and when to hit send can make all the difference in driving real pipeline growth. Outbound Lead Generation Has Changed—Has Your Strategy? Outbound lead generation used to be a numbers game—blast enough emails or make enough calls, and something would stick. But today’s buyers expect relevance. Generic outreach no longer cuts it. The key to modern outbound success? Data enrichment. By leveraging enriched data, sales and marketing teams gain deeper insights into their prospects, allowing them to segment more effectively, personalize outreach, and accelerate deal cycles. Instead of casting a wide net, companies can engage high-intent leads with precision, improving both conversion rates and efficiency. Outbound isn’t dead—it’s just evolved. The question is, has your approach evolved with it?

This week, we’re rolling out new Sonar features designed to make outbound operations even more seamless and efficient. These updates focus on improving CRM integration and team collaboration, helping you stay organized and act on key prospect data in real time. What’s new in Sonar this month? -Automated additions to your CRM – Your HotList prospects now sync directly to your CRM in real time, eliminating the need for manual uploads. -Dashboard Notes – Add private notes to each contact within the dashboard’s side card, keeping important insights easily accessible for you and your team. These updates are part of our ongoing effort to enhance Sonar’s usability, automation, and collaboration capabilities. We’re excited to see how these features improve your workflow and will continue refining the platform based on your feedback.

The best way to sell to a community? Don’t start with a sales pitch. Paid communities operate on trust, and members should always feel like clients, not products. For companies looking to engage, the most effective approach isn’t selling—it’s showing up with valuable discussions, insights, and tools that actually help. Nathaniel Houghton, Co-Founder & CEO at Incendium, and Nathan Ohler, President & COO at Nuooly, Inc., break down what works—and what doesn’t—when it comes to selling inside a community.

For the last few weeks, we’ve been testing a new way to engage high-intent prospects by automatically sending a sample Sonar dashboard to those on our hot list. With over 150 new engaged prospects every week, we need scalable ways to keep the conversation going and showcase Sonar’s value without relying on manual follow-ups. To address this, we built an automation using Zapier + Gmail that triggers a personalized email to hot list prospects who have opened a single email three or more times. The email includes a unique login link to a sample version of the Sonar dashboard, giving them a hands-on look at the platform. (To maintain privacy, all exact contact details are blurred out.) What happened? Nothing! Absolutely a failed experiment: We sent 175 dashboards and received one (very confused) reply. There’s always execution risk - i.e. we may not have done this the right way - but for now, our conclusion is that LinkedIn automations and phone calls remain the most effective scalable way to personally engage our hot leads.
