  • Good Morning! As we get closer to approaching our brunch, we'd love to introduce our panelists starting with Ruth Richardson! Ruth Richardson is the first Black woman to serve as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States in its over 100-year history. She’s a lawyer, health equity champion, and trailblazer. Previously, Ruth was entrenched in the fight for sexual and reproductive health as CEO of Wayside Recovery Center where she tackled housing insecurity, substance use disorder, family reunification, and mental health needs in the community. Ruth made history in 2018 becoming the first Black person elected to represent her district in the Minnesota House and was re-elected in 2020 and 2022, passing more than 50 bills that were signed into law between 2019-2023 many focused on reproductive justice. A strong Black maternal health leader, Ruth is uniquely positioned as a longtime advocate for equitable health care to lead the fight to ensure all patients can access care — no matter their race, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, or background. Get your tickets soon as they are limited! #brunch#bipoc#womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #minneapolis #brunchwomenleaders https://lnkd.in/gwP6P2Dj

  • The ISWB team is so excited to see our fellow sisters in October. This brunch is made possible in part to our wonderful sponsors. Thank you to the African American Breast Cancer Alliance, North Memorial Hospital, Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, and the Masonic Cancer Center - University of Minnesota for all their contributions to this brunch! We hope you can join us as we discuss all things health equity, hear testimonies from women of color who have lived experience in our healthcare system, and learn from several health experts on how we can best prepare for our next appointment and tune in to our bodies. Click the link in our bio to grab tickets while spots remain and tag a sister or two you want to attend with in the comments ?? https://lnkd.in/gwP6P2Dj

  • Our next sponsor is the African American Leadership Forum. The Forum is the only MN based, Black-led think-and-do tank. They convert research-based thought on social issues into action-oriented agenda and solutions, which address the fundamental causes of racial injustice. Their solutions are aimed to impact the areas of economic prosperity, generational wealth building, public safety, education, health and environmental justice. They want to end racial injustice in all its forms in Minnesota. To achieve that, they utilize data science research, discourse-driven gatherings, design innovation, and strategic community engagement Their mission is to create a radical future for Black Minnesotans by advancing Black-Centered policies and solutions that actualize true liberation. Thank you to the African American Leadership Forum’s support of In SIsterhood, We Brunch!
