Favora Expresses a New Hope for Climate Progress ?? Favora is a new typeface out of In-House International. You may remember In-House from two previous Type Tuesday editions, Brinca and Zanco. The typeface is optimistic and expressive, daring to dream of a world in which climate action is widespread. It is suitable for identities, packaging, posters, and outdoor. Even merch. Launching a foundry in 2020 came from the team’s need for connection and an outlet for collaborative, creative expression. This somewhat inauspicious timing just weeks into the global pandemic has underpinned the foundry’s work, giving it a lofty purpose. “From the very first release, our typefaces have started from a story and a sense of the energy and concerns around us filtered through what we’ve been paying attention to,” says Michelle (Michu) Benaim S., CEO and partner. Good news won't fix climate despair. Individual actions won't fix climate paralysis. There's relief, briefly, but then we feel stuck again. I think that the key to getting un-stuck is right in front of us. The climate challenge is global, long term, complex, and emotionally charged. It's scale overwhelms any sense of individual power. Instead, people end up feeling alone in their concerns and sacrifices. When people doing their bit don't see broader action, it's a recipe for resentment. What we need instead is collective engagement and trust. To create the structure so people are part of something greater. The antidote to despair is a sense of power. There's power in social connection, in experiencing a groundswell of support, and in seeing how others contribute. It's how mass adoption of new technologies speeds up. Connection transforms action into purpose, and gives meaning to scattered impact. Scientific breakthroughs and news of investment dazzle us with hope. So it's easy to forget that world-changing technology only changes the world if people use it. Transitioning to a climate-positive economy is too important to leave adoption to chance.
