Immediately following Hurricane Helene, Dayspring Foundation was left without power, water, and cell service. With no way to reach clients digitally, Dayspring quickly visited clients in person to assess damage. A $10,000 grant distributed by Impact Health enabled Dayspring to help hurricane-impacted clients pay for gas to run generators, replace clothes lost to the storm, and pay rent after losing jobs. Dayspring is also helping community members get screened for Medicaid eligibility.

We were excited to have the opportunity to spend two days with our colleagues at Access East, Inc, Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear, and the NCDHHS in Winston-Salem where we explored #NCHOP successes to date and new opportunities to learn and grow as we plan for another five years of good work under a new 1115 waiver once approved. We’re looking forward to sharing even more healthy opportunities across North Carolina in 2025!

Last week, Corey and Brandi traveled to one of our HSOs, Neighbors Feeding Neighbors, to volunteer! They helped sort through donations and move them into trailers for storage. Incredible work is happening in our communities to help those affected by Hurricane Helene, and we are grateful to provide support whenever we can!

Join us as we celebrate Transgender Awareness Week from November 13 - 19. We are committed to fostering an environment that is inclusive and supportive of all our trans and gender-diverse family and friends. Transgender individuals, especially trans women, people of color, and youth, face disproportionate rates of discrimination, mental health challenges, and limited access to affirming healthcare. In fact, studies show that over 80% of trans youth report feeling unsafe in their schools, highlighting the need for inclusive spaces and supportive resources. This week was created to increase awareness of the many contributions made by transgender community members and the challenges they face every day. This week leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, a day to honor those lost to anti-transgender violence. Learn more and discover ways to support this community at https://lnkd.in/dWGRZRcn and locally at https://tranzmission.org/ #TransAwarenessWeek #TransIsBeautiful
