Fun fact: Impact Life is the first organization in Delaware to ever be awarded a BCOR grant! We are honored as this is a huge accomplishment for us and our community. The purpose of the Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) Program is to mobilize and connect a broad array of community-based resources to increase the availability and quality of long-term recovery support for persons with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring substance use and mental disorders (COD). Our BCOR program serves individuals 12 years of age and older throughout the entire state of Delaware. BCOR is a trauma-informed, culturally appropriate program offering a range of services for people who use drugs, including alcohol, those who are in active addiction, and those in recovery including: - Outreach and Overdose Prevention Education - Risk Management Screenings - Narcan Training - Mobile Wound Care Services - Referrals to Housing - Referrals to Healthcare - Mindfulness Sessions and Activities - Peer Support Services - Recovery Planning - Safe Disposal Events - Drug Takeback Events All services will be delivered by individuals with lived experience from diverse backgrounds. The overarching goal of the BCOR program is to enhance and expand recovery support services to improve long-term recovery outcomes for individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders (COD). Services are tailored to reflect the unique needs and characteristics of the communities we serve. Ready to meet the team?! Charla Sharpe – Wellness Activities Coordinator: Charla will coordinate mindfulness activities for the Recovery Community Centers (Café, HUB, and DIC) and for residents in all our recovery houses. She will facilitate some activities herself and bring in practitioners for others. Be on the lookout for soundbathing, mindfulness walks, creative writing and journaling workshops, speakeasy poetry sessions, mindful eating, moon circles, aromatherapy, and more! Brandi Parks – Project Coordinator: Brandi will assist Charla with coordination, handle data collection, and enroll clients in the program. Hannah Bartley – Outreach Nurse: Hannah will now serve as the Outreach Nurse for BCOR, continuing her great work with the harm reduction team while expanding her focus in the BCOR program. Angel Mendez – Peer Support Specialist (Congrats and yay!): Angel is being promoted to Peer Support Specialist and will provide one-on-one support, maintain a caseload, offer peer support services, and run groups to provide individualized support. Together, this team will help us build a solid community of recovery and extend our services even further.
