If you want to know how some leaders get results, even when many fires are burning, this short video is for you. It comes down to assigning a value to each possible task and choosing which to focus on first based on the value, while you let some fires burn. If you grew your business, as most entrepreneurs did, by wearing every hat, saving every dollar, and now you are scaling, its time to change tactics and strategies. How Do You Define Success Beyond the P&L Statement? I interviewed over 100 Arizona based business owners over the last 2 years and a clear pattern emerged when asking them about their goals. The conversations generally went like this: ?? I need to grow my company and increase profits. ?? Why? ?? So I can have more freedom to do what I want. ?? What do you want? ?? To spend more time with my kids, take better care of my health, travel. ?? Why can't you do those things now? ?? Because my business is too dependent on me. ?? So when can you start enjoying all of the wealth you have created? ?? Someday when I have an exit and sell my business or have $10MM banked. When asked what areas of their life truly matter for them when they imagine their ultimate fulfilled life, these business leaders consistently identified these six core areas in the graphic below, with a close 7th category of "Faith" at about 30% whereas "Spirituality" was usually considered incorporated as part of their definition of wellness: ? Health & Wellness ? Relationships ? Self-Development ? Business/Career Growth ? Financial Stability ? Impact/Charity I share these findings because waiting for "Someday" to improve areas of your life beyond business is a risky proposition filled with uncertainty and regret. We have no guarantee when our time on this earth will end. Taking small steps today to enjoy your life can be surprisingly straightforward and may not require a lot of time, just focus and accountability. In other words, unless you can't make payroll, there is likely nothing stopping you from enjoying and investing in the key parts of your fulfilling life starting today. Some leaders candidly expressed a level of guilt when they are not grinding away at business 24/7. I say those leaders need better mentors and peers. Here is what I know helps, belonging to a community of business leaders that are navigating these same challenges and willing to support and contribute to the success of others. This is exactly why I created three programs to help leaders at any stage, grow their business, free up their time and live their purpose to make a bigger impact in the world. Ask yourself: ? Can you really afford to put your well-being and personal connections on hold, hoping to re-engage someday? ? We do over $20 billion in trade with Mexico alone, so when tariffs, border delays, or new trade deals pop up, they ripple through industries like manufacturing, agriculture, and logistics. Here’s how to stay ahead: ?? Pay attention to actions, not headlines. Politics is noisy. What actually matters? The deals, policies, and supply chain shifts that affect your costs, your partners, and your growth. Watch trade agreements and border policies, not just the latest headlines. ?? Build flexibility into your supply chain. If you’re relying heavily on Mexican imports or cross-border logistics, make sure you’ve got backup suppliers, alternative routes, and a game plan for handling delays or price hikes. If My 14-Year-Old Daughter Used AI to Land Her First Commissioned Art Piece… Why Aren’t You Using It in Your Business? Last month, I had a serious conversation with my kids to help them truly understand they have access to every answer they need to figure things out faster than ever before, thanks to the tech tools available today, especially AI. To drive the point home, I wrote this on their whiteboard: ? "I don’t know how to" (should be switched to) ? "How can I learn to?" (which should then trigger) ? "Use ChatGPT." Fast forward a few weeks… My 14-year-old daughter Nina, who runs a small art business painting custom shoes, heard about an incredible opportunity from Jonathon Vento: The Pemberton Project in Downtown Phoenix. ?? 100 murals. A big-time commission for local artists. She had never submitted a proposal before. She had no idea where to start. Instead of saying, “I don’t know how to do this”, she used ChatGPT and asked: ?? “What is included in a proposal for a mural project?” For the concept itself, she created a sketch on her iPad. Then she uploaded it and asked: ?? “Help me come up with some names and inspirational descriptions for this art mural concept that communicates how our differences don’t divide us, they make a better whole.” ?? In minutes, she had clarity. ?? She refined ideas quickly as if she had an army of researchers helping her. ?? She saved HOURS—and that was the difference between ‘I’ll give it a shot’ vs. ‘I’m too busy to figure this out.’ ? The result? She landed the commission. And here’s the best part, for me anyway: Now, I get to spend 10 hours every weekend as her assistant while she brings her vision to life. Finding ways to bond with your teenager in a way that’s “not cringe”? Rare. So I’ll take it! ?? So, I’ll ask you again… If my 14-year-old is using AI to accelerate her success, why aren’t you using it in your business? AI isn’t here to replace talent, skill, or vision. It’s here to help you execute faster, refine ideas, and move forward with confidence. If you’re not leveraging tools like ChatGPT, you’re not just working harder than you need to—you’re missing out on opportunities you might never even pursue. Today, I had the privilege of sitting down with 15 high-impact leaders over brunch. We went around the room and each shared (1) What's currently working and (2)What they need help with. The level of support and insight exchanged was nothing short of transformative. Interestingly, some found it challenging to articulate what they needed help with. As entrepreneurs and leaders, we often feel pressure to know all the answers. But that mindset is a trap. When we act like we have it all figured out, it creates a ripple effect stifling innovation and collaboration within our teams. People hesitate to ask questions, avoid risks, and stick to what's "safe". That's how opportunities for breakthroughs slip by. It's also how people may never get the exact support they need from the person sitting right next to them at brunch! I'm proud of the vulnerability and honesty shown today.
