Impact Behavioral Health Partners proudly announces the receipt of a?multi-year $3.9 million Transforming Lives Through Supported Employment Program Grant?from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This five-year grant will fund the Apoyó de Empleo Latino (ADEL) program, launching in October across 8 Erie Family Health Centers in Chicagoland. https://lnkd.in/g4C5rC8M

“Mental health often takes a backseat in communities of color due to the pervasive stigma surrounding it,” says Lead Employment Specialist, Alondra Solis. By offering services in Spanish, she builds rapport and provides culturally competent support, making a significant difference in access and combating mental health stigma. "Utilizing my bilingual abilities has proven highly beneficial in assisting the Hispanic/Latino community, which often lacks awareness of our services," Alondra shares. The Employment Services program increases awareness and breaks down barriers, helping participants find employment and understand the importance of mental health for overall quality of life. July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Month/BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month which was established to honor the legacy of author, advocate, and trailblazer Bebe Moore Campbell. Moore Campbell’s ability to tell impactful stories highlighting themes of racism, mental health, and family left a lasting mark on this world and is a foundation for much of the work that continues in support of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) mental health. https://lnkd.in/gpAQDDeG
