Are you a corporate immigration attorney at BigLaw AND do you have or love dogs? Ready for the "next step" in your career (and maybe some quality dog time while you double-check USCIS filing addresses)? I'm searching for an experienced Associate Attorney for a hybrid role at a Brooklyn boutique law firm with a dog-friendly office. This is a challenging role that requires an ambitious and hard-working attorney. While the role demands a lot, the firm actually cares about the well being of their attorneys and staff and gives a lot back. This is a small boutique firm with major corporate and individual clients and a firm culture that is super impressive. Here's some of what they require (more in job ad linked below): - Minimum 4+ years of business immigration experience at a large corporate immigration law firm (or combo experience at big and small firms). - Experience with employment-based nonimmigrant visas including H, L, E, O, TN, and J-1 visas. - Experience with entire PERM lifecycle. - Experience with employment-based immigrant visas (EB-1, EB-2, EB-2 NIW, and EB-3) as well as immigrant visa consular processing and adjustment of status. Salary range and also what sets this firm apart: - $145,000 - $165,00 depending upon qualifications and experience - Open and inclusive firm culture that is built around the concept of “accountable flexibility” - innovative self-managed PTO - Did I mention dog-friendly office? You can learn more and apply by clicking on the job ad link below. Please feel free to DM me with any questions. Of course, please consider sharing or commenting to expand reach with the immigration law community. #immigration #immigrationlaw #immigrationjobs #lawjobs #globalmobility

After screening and interviewing hundreds of immigration law applicants over the years, I wish there was a magic question that could tell you if the candidate was a great fit for the role. While there might not be one magic question, certain questions might be more effective than others. Behavioral-based questions are designed to ideally elicit detailed responses about how a candidate has handled specific situations in the past. The premise is simple: past behavior is a strong indicator of future behavior. These questions often start with phrases like: "Tell me about a time when..." "Can you describe an instance where..." "Give me an example of..." The interviewer can craft these questions around key skills and competencies required for a role. Want to explore how a candidate handles mistakes? "Tell me about the biggest mistake you made on a petition filed with USCIS and how you dealt with it." Not a fan of behavioral based questions? Neither is Wharton School professor and?best-selling author Adam Grant who instead recommends "situational questions." Situational questions begin with "what would you do if..." and are "especially good?for assessing leadership and interpersonal skills," says Grant in Inc. What's the most important thing? Be consistent. Have a set of questions that you ask each candidate for the open role and take notes about how well they answered these questions. For the candidate you hired, see how well they are doing after 1 year at the firm. (Yes, I know, this is a long game approach.) Then look back at the set of questions they answered in the interview and evaluate how effective the questions were at predicting future behavior. Or, if you have the magic question that tells you everything you need to know about the candidate, totally share that below. ???? P.S. What interview question has been effective for you in predicting future success for a candidate? #ImmigrationLawHiring #ImmigrationJobs #ImmigrationLaw #InterviewTips Reference: https://lnkd.in/drbVETaT
