We are proud to join in the launch of #EconomicMobilityforAll, a new statewide campaign dedicated to expanding access to professional licensing and entrepreneurship opportunities for all Californians regardless of their backgrounds, immigration status, or English language proficiency. Despite successful advocacy in past years to expand access to professional licensing and entrepreneurship opportunities, more work must be done to ensure that language access, restrictions on accumulating professional experience, and other barriers do not prevent immigrants from realizing their professional dreams. Every individual should have the opportunity to support themselves and their loved ones on their own terms. Learn more and join us at: bit.ly/joinem4a #EM4A

Every student has a wealth of potential. The DACA program has supported its recipients—many are students and part of the workforce—by protecting them from deportation and opening doors to higher education and career options. The DACA program was a success, positively impacting not only the lives of the DACA recipients but also their communities and the U.S. economy. Yet, instead of extending DACA to the new generation, the anti-immigrant forces have spent the last decade attacking and dismantling the program. The threats to DACA and Keeping Families Together (Parole-in-Place) are not just about ending these programs—it’s the ongoing attack on immigrant families to uproot them from their homes and livelihoods. Together, we're driving calls to the White House to demand protections now and you can help. In just two days, anti-immigrant officials will spend the day in court arguing for the separation of hundreds of thousands of families by going after the DACA program yet again. We refuse to sit on the sidelines while these calculated attacks threaten the lives of our neighbors, loved ones, and friends. Together, we're driving calls to the White House to demand protections now and you can help. Text HOME IS HERE to 787-57 to start making calls with us today! **Update (10/08/24): The lawsuit against Keeping Families Together process (Texas v. DHS), which was initially scheduled for an oral hearing the same day and in the same court as the DACA case, will now be heard several weeks later. #DACA #DACARecipient #Undocumented #Immigrants #StillWeRise #StillWeStand #ImmigrantCommunity

Thousands of college students in CA are unjustly barred from obtaining paying jobs on campus solely due to their immigration status. On Oct 1, 2024, immigrant leaders filed a lawsuit to #StopUCDiscrimination, challenging the UC’s unlawful and discriminatory policy that denies undocumented students access to on-campus employment. The lawsuit, supported by Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) at the UCLA School of Law and Organized Power In Numbers, aims to end this injustice and ensure equal opportunities for all students. “By not allowing these students to work, the University is missing out on the return on its investment in their education,” said Iliana G. Perez, Ph.D., Petitioner and UCLA lecturer. Read Immigrants Rising's statement on the lawsuit at bit.ly/o4a-statement #Opportunity4All

On October 10, 2024, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will be hearing arguments from defenders of the DACA program as well as the opposition who wants the program to end. A decision could come anytime after that. The court’s decision not only impacts half a million active DACA recipients but millions more — including their families, dependents, employers, customers, students, neighbors, and friends. The DACA program not only benefits the 550,000 recipients but also strengthens the U.S. economy and keeps families together. As we approach the court hearing date, stay tuned for updated info on DACA and ways you can support DACA and DACA recipients by taking action. #DACA #DACARecipient #Undocumented #Immigrants #ImmigrantRising #StillWeRise #StillWeStand #ImmigrantCommunity

DACA has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people who arrived in the U.S. as children, giving them an opportunity to pursue education, contribute to their local communities, and build their future in the U.S. Almost 550,000 people currently benefit from the DACA program, and another half a million lives could be transformed if the program fully resumed. Yet, these benefits are jeopardized by ongoing threats to DACA. 2022 data shows DACA recipients collectively earning $27.9 billion and contributing billions in taxes. 2018 data shows undocumented immigrants (including people ineligible for DACA) collectively contributing $32 billion in taxes. Enacting DACA into law could boost revenues by $815 million, whereas its repeal would result in a loss of nearly $700 million. Undocumented immigrants are crucial drivers of economic growth and community strength.
