A recent article by Education Week covered a broad dataset pertaining to student outcomes and the role of the advisor/councilor. It is no surprise that mentorship improves a student’s outcomes, but it's being seen as more and more critical to plugging the increasing skills gap present in today’s workforce. “Experimental evidence shows that intensive advising can increase postsecondary enrollment, which has been declining in recent years, the report says.
