Thank you to all of the housing advocates who gathered on the steps of the Washington State Capitol Building and met with lawmakers as supporters and champions of housing justice last Friday for Housing and Homelesness Advocacy Day, coordinated by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance! Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the passionate volunteers and advocates uniting in Olympia to raise awareness and rally support for legislation addressing housing and homelessness. Your dedication makes a difference! ????

Our mission is to develop affordable housing, build welcoming communities, and foster vibrant futures.
关于我们
Imagine Housing develops affordable housing, builds welcoming communities and fosters vibrant futures. Our vision is an Eastside with interconnected and welcoming communities where all people can live, learn, work and play. We know that stability for the whole community starts with stability at home, one family at a time. However, for the hundreds of people in our community without a home, stability is nearly impossible. These men, women and children spend their nights in emergency shelters, cars, parks or outside on the street. They often don't sleep well, unsure if their family will be safe until morning. Not all of the people Imagine Housing serves are homeless. In our community, there are thousands of other families who have a roof overhead, but at far too high a price. Many local families are rent-burdened - paying more than 30 percent of their income towards rent. The high cost of rent places these families under incredible financial stress since funds are not available to meet other critical needs such as food, clothing and medical care. For these reasons and others, Imagine Housing is working strategically and rapidly to ensure that the most vulnerable among us have a safe, supportive and affordable place to call home. We are making dreams come true for hundreds of Eastside families and individuals. Our residential communities in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Redmond provide affordable rental homes to people in need of a place to live. Additionally, we offer the targeted services and support that our residents need to be stable, self-supporting and contributing members of our vibrant Eastside community. For the latest information and updates about what Imagine Housing is doing in the community, please like us on Facebook and Twitter, or email us at [email protected].

King County Metro Transit Neighborhood Pop-Up Events recently popped around to several Imagine Housing communities to answer questions about the transit system. They also helped residents get adult, youth, and senior ORCA cards. Beep! Beep! Imagine Housing residents are on the move!

Did you know? The first woman elected to a city council in Washington State was from Kirkland! In 1911, just a year after women in Washington permanently gained the right to vote, Carrie Shumway was elected to the Kirkland City Council. A passionate educator and community leader, Shumway taught in Seattle, Tacoma, and even Tokyo. She also helped found the Seattle Bicycle Club, the Seattle Camera Club, and was a charter member of the Kirkland Woman’s Club. Her legacy is a reminder of the Eastside women—past and present—who are paving the way for stronger, more vibrant communities. via HistoryLink https://lnkd.in/ghYyYKBa

March is here, and with it comes Women’s History Month—a time to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history and today. At Imagine Housing, we recognize the role that safe, stable, and affordable housing plays in empowering women and strengthening communities. This month, we celebrate the women who have paved the way for progress and those who continue to lead the fight for equity and opportunity. Let’s lift up their stories, honor their impact, and continue working toward a more just and inclusive future. #womenshistorymonth
