Imagination Stage is #hiring our next Technical Director to join our production team in Beltsville (Shop)/ Bethesda (Theatre) Maryland. Our amazing, award winning, professional theatre for young audiences sits just outside of Washington DC. Imagination Stage is celebrating 45 years in the Montgomery County Maryland community. The Technical Director serves as a key member of Imagination Stage’s production team, with responsibility for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective execution of scenic designs in line with the designer’s vision and the allocated resources. The TD serves in a leadership role in the Production Department, working with the Director of Production and other Production Area Heads on long range planning, budgeting, and personnel management. The TD leads a shop staff of a Lead Carpenter and a Resident Carpenter along with overhire technicians as needed for build, load ins, and strike. The?45-minute show, followed by a?talkback?with the youth performers, is their only performance in the DMV. La Colmenita?is the first theatre group to be named Goodwill Ambassadors for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). This talented child actors have performed in more than 25 countries, around the island of Cuba, and helped found and collaborate with the Movement of Therapeutic Clowns in the hospitals of Havana. They prioritize remote and isolated communities as well as those affected by natural disasters. They have been nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards and received the highest order given in Cuba to a cultural institution. Over the past year, we have produced 17 different shows, an annual gala, our first Arts for All Festival, 3 workshops of new pieces, and a total of over 375 individual performances involving over 260 artists, managers, technicians, and craftspeople. Imagination Stage, Inc., the metro DC region’s largest professional theatre dedicated to young audiences, announces five shows for 2024-2025–the first led by new Chief Artistic Programming Officer Joanne Seelig Lamparter. First up in the Lerner Family Theatre is the beloved “bear of little brain,” Winnie the Pooh (September 14 - October 27), which is best for ages 3-8. Next up are two for the elementary-age crowd: Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood (December 14- February 8) and Dory Fantasmagory (June 20-August 3). For the youngest audiences, ages 1-4, two home-grown shows play in the intimate Reeve Studio Theatre: Paper Dreams (January 13 - February 11) and Mother Goose (March 2 - April 13). This season’s shows feature protagonists who are eminently relatable, flaws and all; each goes on a journey that is adventurous, entertaining, and that results in growth. Lamparter says “I can’t wait for families, school groups, and our many community partners to experience these relevant and beautifully produced shows.” They reflect Lamparter’s goal that “Imagination Stage’s performances and classes meet children where they are, center their needs, and allow them to voice what’s important in their world.” Discount ticket packages are now available for purchase.
