As we stare at the end of 2024 and look ahead to 2025, we took a moment to summarize the top 10 competencies requested for board openings this past year. The good news: boards are looking for a wide variety of skills, and there are a lot of board opportunities out there. In this Boardroom View, we summarize the broad opportunity landscape as well as how to best translate your executive expertise into the wider board view. As goals get set for 2025 - serving in a board role or getting around to hiring that independent director - we hope this data and framework help you get a bit closer to getting that seat. #illumyn #illumynimpact

Six years ago, I started a project called Him For Her as part of my Henry Crown Fellowship out of The Aspen Institute. The impetus: a passion for seeing more women thrive at work. The boardroom focus? It’s the most influential room in business. Today I am excited to share that Him For Her is now illumyn Impact. The evolution of our brand reflects our broader vision to illuminate diverse voices and empower new board leadership unlocking a healthy future for business, the planet, and our society. Our commitment to changing corporate boardrooms – in a combined effort with our sister organization, illumyn – remains as strong as ever. With this change we release our annual 2024 Impact Report. You will see that in just six years, we’ve facilitated over 65,000 warm connections to bring women and underrepresented executives into the closed board ecosystem. Since we started measuring private board diversity five years ago, women have gone from 7%-17% and the all-male boards have been cut in half. This year has been transformative for the industries and conversations shaping our future. Diverse perspectives are more critical than ever to address our greatest challenges and build the best companies and opportunities. I want to thank our amazing team, our incredible board and advisors, and the investment firms, strategic partners and executives who are with us in partnership. Join us and support our work - your donation helps open doors (link in comments). https://lnkd.in/g6Apv9JG
