On February 14, Illinois Virtual Schools and Academy attended the FeBRRuary Institute Day, hosted by the Lake County Regional Office of Education at Mundelein and Lakes Community High Schools. Our team was excited to connect with educators at both the K-5 and 6-12 conferences. ?? K-5 Team: Presented on IVSA’s newly added curriculum, designed to meet the needs of young learners in a virtual environment. ?? 6-12 Team: Led by IVSA Lead Teacher, Ron Chernobrov, explored how AI can help educators: ? Streamline daily tasks ? Expand student resources ? Provide instant feedback ? Analyze data to target student populations ?? IVSA will soon be offering Professional Development workshops for schools and districts on AI in education, digital learning strategies, and virtual curriculum integration! Illinois Virtual Schools & Academy, formerly known as Illinois Virtual School (IVS), has been working hard to provide a statewide virtual option for students in Illinois for over 20 years. IVSA has a strong track record of 5-12 student success in online learning. While we continue our growth and leadership in the environment of digital learning, both blended and online, we have tracked over 10,000 course enrollments with an average completion rate of 91% (i.e., students earning 60% or higher). The IVSA program is administered through the Lake County Regional Office of Education 34, a member of the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS). Last month, several members of the IVSA team attended the Digital Learning Annual Conference (DLAC) 2025 in Atlanta, where we had the opportunity to collaborate with virtual educators from across the country!? Executive Director, Melissa Lundgaard, and Lead Teacher, Ron Chernobrov, led a powerful session on IVSA’s innovative approach to filling teacher shortages in Illinois.
