Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) is a state government program that makes solar energy more affordable for income-eligible residents and the organizations that serve them. ILSFA also provides opportunities for solar companies to participate in the growing Illinois renewable energy economy. The program was created by the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) and expanded by the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) to meet the state’s renewable energy goals and expand solar energy. ILSFA is now accepting proposals from approved solar companies, called Approved Vendors, to become designated Bright Neighborhoods Approved Vendors! The program has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Waukegan and Carbondale-Marion community areas. The selected Approved Vendors will have the opportunity to continue to grow their businesses within the residential solar market through this initiative and participate in the growing Illinois renewable energy economy. On November 15 at 12 p.m. CT, the IPA will host Power Hour 7 – Upcoming Illinois Net Metering Changes. Net metering, one of the key drivers of solar energy in Illinois, will be undergoing significant changes effective January 1, 2025. With this development coming down the pike, the IPA will be hosting an educational webinar to discuss net metering policy changes and potential impacts to ComEd, MidAmerican, and Ameren customers. Speakers for the webinar include IPA Chief Legal Counsel Kelly Turner, Environmental Law & Policy Center Senior Attorney Brad Klein, and Elevate Energy Chief Engineer Lawrence Kotewa. Kankakee Community College installed solar on their Riverfront Campus through the Illinois Solar for All program! This installation will produce about 8% of the total electricity consumed annually on KCC’s Riverfront Campus and help the college with renewable energy education.
